Do you buy through Amazon? The last three things I ordered never arrived!

rip-offs, scammers, on-line sales, internet, fraud

I used to buy a lot of stuff through Amazon. I've bought t-shirts, shorts, books, CDs, wood-working products, and other random stuff. But the last three things I've ordered through Amazon never got here. Two were fidget spinners for a kid client. The third was Elmer's wood filler that is essential to my loudspeaker restoration "business." It seems that fly-by-night sellers are increasing on Amazon. Fortunately, I've gotten my money refunded by Amazon each time. But it's making me want to take my business elsewhere. Do you buy stuff though Amazon? Have you noticed an increase in BS sellers?

@TheHorse I don't really know how amazon works, my kids always order new stuff so I assumed it was shipped from a warehouse.

It used to be really dependable. They're going to have to check their vendors more closely or they may lose business.

@sumofalltears I think individual sellers are involved as well.

Yes, I buy through Amazon and I only buy if the items are "SOLD AND SHIPPED BY AMAZON".

@TheHorse It is clearly stated if it is sold and shipped by Amazon or if it is an independent vendor. As Switzerland is not part of Europe and, no matter where I buy, the goods go through a Custom, I know that through Amazon I have no problems.

@LadyDuck Does having an item go through customs raise the price at all? I stopped selling speakers to Canada via eBay because of customs hassles.

Long time ago I liked buying stuffs from Amazon. As at that time I just needed to buy little things and the delivery fee is little. Now it increased a lot and therefore I buy from other online stores as they have better policy for the delivery fee. Most of the time I like to buy from Amazon directly rather than suppliers under it. So it is no problem for me to receive the products.

@TheHorse I always want to buy from Amazon directly as I don't have to worry the goods are not in stocks.

@youless I don't mind if there are delays. But I expect the items to arrive eventually. I'll be more cautious with Amazon for awhile.

I'll have to look more closely to see if it's from Amazon itself. I went with eBay for my replacement wood filler.

I buy mostly DVD and books on Amazon. I've started buying more on eBay or wish.com

You have to careful about third party vendors on Amazon. I ordered a George Foreman grill a while back because it was only $9 but I never received it. Luckily Amazon will still refund you money. Just contact their support team.

Only when they are the cheapest in the bunch, I always compare prices and it's rare that Amazon is the cheapest.

I compare them with sites like Walmart.com, Target.com, Chewy.com, Petsmart.com, Petco.com and KMart.com @TheHorse I've never really liked Amazon for anything other than streaming TV. Of course it always depends on what I'm shopping for and in my case it's usually food items or laundry/dish soaps.

Where do you find the cheapest prices? I've found Amazon to be good in that area.

I've bought things occasionally, mainly used books. I've had no complaints. Why don't you buy the fidget spinners in a shop? You'd save the money for the postage.

Yes I do, books for the most part and it seems just about the same person/business is who I end up ordering from. But I have orders security cameras to solar motion lights to books to home canning stuff, got it all. At least you got your money back.

I've bought a couple items on Amazon, but not recently. Others have said the same thing, that what they've purchased didn't arrive. So, yes scammers are everywhere, even on Amazon!

It looks like their strategy is to get a few good feedbacks, and then to sell lots of stuff they don't have. Then they disappear. I wonder if Amazon gets burned when they do that.

@kobesbuddy Which means Amazon will have to tighten up on its sellers somehow.

@TheHorse My guess is, Amazon covers the cost, at their own loss. Also, people will hesitate to shop on Amazon in the future, after experiencing this kind of scam:(
