Walgreens will be acquiring 1900 Rite Aid stores and become the largest drug store chain in the United States. It won't affect California, but sure will many others. The following states will no longer have any Rite Aid stores: Alabama Georgia Indiana Kentucky Louisiana Maine Mississippi Rhode Island South Carolina Tennessee Utah West Virginia The following states will have fewer Rite Aid stores: Colorado – 21 stores reduced to 3 stores Connecticut – 77 stores reduced to 34 stores Massachusetts – 144 stores reduced to 10 stores New Hampshire – 68 stores reduced to 62 stores new jersey – 251 stores reduced to 133 stores New York – 596 stores reduced to 323 stores North Carolina – 222 stores reduced to 9 stores Ohio – 224 stores reduced to 217 stores Pennsylvania – 536 stores reduced to 534 stores Vermont – 37 stores reduced to 6 stores Virginia – 185 stores reduced to 82 stores No change in these states: California (576 stores) Delaware (42 stores) Idaho (14 stores) Michigan (274 stores) Nevada (1 store) Oregon (73 stores) Washington (139 stores)

@Fishmomma wouldn't know about that as I've never been. But I do know there's only 2 rite aids on Cape that I know of. And Cape is huge!

I've been wondering about this. Not sure why my little town needs both Rite Aide and Walgreens. I rarely go into Walgreens cause it hawks sugar so much.

We have never had Rite Aid stores in Oklahoma. Or if we did they were before my time.

This is interesting to know, though I haven't been to Rite Aid in years. I'm glad we still have Rite Aid and only lose seven stores though.

I think its likely stores that weren't making money in Ohio and we will see more stores close for that reason.

@Fishmomma I believe you're right, like Sears and Kmart.

Looks like Rite Aid is slowly going down. Soon it will just be Walgreens and CVS.

It has been a long time since I have seen a Rite Aid or a Walgreens store.
