I am reminded of my grandma this morning, and I will tell you why. She lived to be 100, but never actually went to a doctor's office until she was in her sixties. She would get up in the morning and make a full country breakfast, holding her back and hobbling around. She would say "oh, I hurt, but I am thankful I don't have arthritis." She actually did, but did not have a doctor to tell her so. She was thankful for every day that I remember, and loved all of her family. I am thankful to have had my grandma.

She sounds like she was a wonderful lady. Nice that she got to live a long life and you got to have her for as long as you did.

In many ways she was a good example.

Yes, it does seem to. They were hard workers and ate a lot of things they grew themselves.

Lucky grandma! Nobody in my family lived to be 100 years old. My paternal grandpa almost made it: he was 96 when he passed away.

I believe my maternal grandpa was 97. I hope I get their great genes.

My mother rarely went to the doctor until she was well on in years. She lived to 104 but the last 12 months wasn't much fun for her.

It is good to enjoy them while we can, and it is sad to watch them as they decline.

@GardenGerty That's true. Eventually the poor old body wears out.
