I found a frog

While repotting some plants in our shade-house I came across this cute little frog so off I went for my camera to take a photo of him. If I’m going to use him/her for a discussion I need to be able to come up with some information about him/her. He/she will be a ‘him’ from now on.
I wanted to know what type of frog he is. I went searching for ‘Frogs of the South-West’ and came up with the motor-bike frog (Litoria moorei) which is quite common around here and so named because, surprise surprise, its call sounds like a motor-bike.
It is large and powerfully built and the back colour can vary considerably. Apparently when the weather is warmer it will look like my little fellow but in colder weather it will be an almost uniform dark brown. The toes are only partially webbed.
I’ve seen him two or three times and I always look for him now. Knowing where he is saves me getting a sudden fright if he should take a sudden leap in my direction. Do you ever see frogs?

I've had frogs legs in a restaurant. You don't often see them on menus here.

I used to see frogs occasionally in my back yard when I was a kid. I haven't seen one in ages. I guess that's "urban expansion" for you (or "cats in the neighborhood").

@FourWalls @LoriAMoore Hopefully they might make a comeback. We had frogs in the garden when we lived in suburbia but that was a long time ago.

Not anymore these days. I remember when I was a kid I could never fall asleep without catching a frog. So my mom would let me out with my nanny just to look for frogs or I wouldn't go to bed.

It is hard to find this frog with protective coloration.I haven't heard of the motor-bike frog, but over here there are stores that sell bullfrogs .They say bullfrogs make a loud noise.

@JudyEv obviously better than some murky pond or the nearest canal for him - a frog with a penthouse suite and TV

It looks beautiful, and I wonder what sound does it make, the reason why it was called motor-bike frog!

It makes a sound like a motor-bike. Quite unnerving really how realistic the sound is.

If you kept the grass short they'd make more use of the gardens.

I love the color pattern on that frog's back!
Living here in tropical Florida, we have millions of frogs everywhere.

Some are not at all pretty. This is one of the better looking ones perhaps.
