Prot is a pervert?

I am disappointed. I have been a big Kevin Spacey fan for a long time now. I have often thought of him as a being an under-rated actor and I enjoyed his choice of roles. Kevin Spacey can play someone devious and cruel as in the movies "Seven", "Swimming with Sharks", "Usual Suspects" Or he can play someone kind and timid such as "The Ref", "K-Pax" (where he plays a peaceful alien named Prot.), and "Pay it Forward". (Also let's not forget stunning, but neutral roles such as "Glengarry Glenross", and the voice acting he did in "Moon".) Well. I guess he is still a talented actor who had a knack for choosing roles. But as we are learning now - he also did horrible things to others. I simply can't enjoy watching his movies now as I once did. I know I wrote some time back about Kevin's awesome brother. (if you are curious to read it - just click the word "Randy Fowler" in the green box at the top of this article) -- Kevin's brother endured great childhood abuse allowing it to continue because he wanted to keep Kevin safe. I wonder how that poor man feels now, knowing that Kevin had shades of abuser in him as well. I do wonder what will become of Kevin Spacey. He will likely not act much after this point in time. Will he work at a fast food place? Mopping floors? Go on to get therapy (I hope)?, Get well? Write a book? Here is a link to a recent interview with Kevin Spacey's brother, Randy.
The allegations leveled against Kevin Spacey have dredged up disturbing memories about his childhood — as his brother said their father was a “Nazi child rapist” who abused them for years in their “house of horrors home.”

Kevin Spacey is essentially career over at this point. I am sure he made many millions of dollars so he won't be applying at Walmart for a job.

Agree, I think he is done acting. True, he probably made lots of money - but sometimes those stars have crazy spending habits.

I'd prefer not to read about the childhood house of horrors - my day is already depressing with grey skies and rain. However, many times children grow up to be abusers because they suffered abuse as kids. - some would be affected to a greater extent than others.

Quite a revelation! I'm glad he quickly apologized. We reap what we sow.

@FayeHazel Exactly! Who of us has not done things that we regret? I do not excuse anything that he may have done. However, it is time to come clean and make some amends, no matter the cost. Hopefully, we will all learn from the mistakes of others and avoid them in our own lives and we all become better people. You made me curious about the movie and I watched it on YouTube. I really liked the movie. However, I started to watch American Beauty and when I saw where it was going, I shut the movie. We don't need that kind of entertainment.

@1hopefulman Did you see "K-Pax", was that the one you watched? I know, brilliant, isn't it? One of my favorites. I haven't seen "American Beauty" yet. Though you're right. Sometimes I think entertainment and the subjects for entertainment that we have are disturbing

Right now, I'm just bracing myself for what other exposes people have against another famous personality. It truly saddens me. Behind the glamour, the fame, the popularity, the name, the money, they are all fragile beings with secrets, skeletons in the closet, a dark past. And when all these gunk spills out, it's for the whole world to see. Horrible, horrible times. Whenever I see the faces of Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein, I am disgusted. I was once sexually harassed when I was 11 and till now if I imagine hard enough, I can still remember how the disgusting pig smelled like.

@FayeHazel The worst feeling is to be helpless about it. Looking back, I could have done something in way of reporting or telling it to my parents. At least to my dad, who happened to be a policeman. But I was so unsure what to do so I kept quiet. I am just lucky that it wasn't anything close to what other young children have gone through. I just hope he hasn't victimized other children. That thought makes me both shiver and feel guilty I didn't do anything

Sorry to hear of your assault. It is tragic, - it has impacted your whole life just because some total pig of person thought they had a right to do something that no one should do to another without adult consent. What makes these people tick? What kind of advanced ego trip are they one? I just wish the celebs would have been outed sooner for being what they are.

@Theresaaiza I'm sorry that you had an experience like that. You abuser probably knew that you wouldn't say anything, might be how he choose. I can understand where it would be confusing and you wouldn't know what to do about it. Please don't feel bad -- if he did anything to other kids that is his fault and his alone. You were just a confused kid. *hug*

Perverts come in all forms and sizes but it's a pity when it's someone who is in power or can influence a lot of people, justifying his actions by admitting he is gay adds the more to his crimes once the allegations are proven

I agree. Perverts don't look like monsters. People in power sometimes let it corrupt them. And a very inappropriate way to announce that he's gay

I have not heard what he actually had done. I am also a huge fan, they say some that are abused as children will abuse when they are adults.

If I remember right from psychology class - if you were abused as a child you have a 30% higher chance of being an abuser yourself. It's being said that he touched/grabbed/came on to - young boys.

I loved him as an actor, musician, and mimic. This devastes me. I'm not surprised to hear how his childhood abuse manifested itself into his adulthood.

I didn't know that he was a musician too. Pity. All that talent. As for his impersonations (he is incredible at it) - an interview with his brother, Randy, stated that Kevin started the mimicry to try to "cheer everyone up". That is heartbreaking.

Wow, I don't know where he would go after all those allegations came out. He's going to be starting over from the ground up. He has a lot of amends to account for. He definitely needs help.

I hope he gets the help he needs. He could actually help a lot of people who have the same set of issues - who hopefully haven't acted on those thoughts.
