Venezuela is broken

Hello dear community, I would like to talk a little about my life in venezuela ... Venezuela is unfortunately living one of the worst dictatorships that have destroyed what little remains of my beautiful country .. the salary is so little that it equals $ 10 per month people are eating literally nothing .. and time people eating from the garbage there is a lot of hunger in my land you do not get the basic products like shampoo, toilet paper, toothpaste and if you get it it's expensive because the currency in dollars does not exist there is a parallel that is uncompromising and impossible few people with money have access to the black dollar and now it is so absurd that a dollar is equivalent to 15% of the salary The drugs are excasos ... I have a brother epilipetico and he needs medicamendos for life and those do not exist. The ones I have are because angels have donated me so that my brother can live ... I have 3 jobs and believe that I can not afford anything to live or to dress or eat really well .. healthy and well the subject was extended a lot but I had to say it ... I feel pain and sadness because all my family has emigrated my friends my acquaintances have all fled and I literally go away being left alone in this country full of crisis and suffering I hope someday to recover democracy ... or have money to leave .. I wish you luck friends and thanks for reading

I believe this is what happens when a government tries to take complete control of an economy. The economy works best when people are free from government controls. I hope the world learns from this.

This is very horrible. But the country has got rich traditions and good natural resources. Why people are still tolerating such Dictators. Throw them all away. I am feeling a lot for your condition. I pray for your Freedom and good living conditions.

Wow thanks for making us aware of this stuff. How does one survive on $10 a month? Very sad state of affairs indeed.

The saddest piece I ever read on mylot post. First, I hope you are all right at of this moment. Existing in a sub-standard situation could be physically draining. With a brother ill and in desperate need of medicine, that could be pervading to the being. So, here's good cheer and blessings, that somehow, at this moment, grace comes to you and your loved ones. And life becomes easier. Second, the despicable situation your country has been reduced to by a cruel despot is a temporary thing. Realiy check, it is the way of the world today, Fearlessness and courage and endurance are probably the stuff you need to survive. Truth be told, I thought Venezuela was okay, Your country is a Miss Universe favorite, and up until your post up there, I thought Venezuela is not in peril. You write well, and if I may suggest, send your thoughts to New York Times, or some daily that can pay you well. God bless you and your family, Meri Yen Sanki Senki.

Up to recently Venezuela was an oil rich country helping other countries with reasonably priced oil through the Petro Caribe agreement.

Being over here and a lot of people are from Venezuela live here now also we hear a lot of stories of all kinds not all good ones at all. We know quite a bit about what is going on too. Really feel for you as that is no way for anyone to have to live in any part of the World. Its such a beautiful Country and it would be a real shame for you to have to leave. All best wishes going out and hope that something will go your way and help you out and get you out of that kind of situtation which is for no one.

That's sad. I have read the same about your country . People are living life of poverty there. Currency is very weak. People don't able to avail basic needs as they are very highly priced. I wish some day the things get changed there.

We really don't need toothpaste when we have salt or sometimes a little baking soda goes along way. A stop to a good public washroom helps for paper but as long as we have soap that too is not needed. Shampoo is more difficult but there are possible solutions but all this does not always make us feel good about our life unless we can somehow take pride in our methods of dealing with adversities. I wanted to ask you about having a computer. How can you afford this? I was privileged once to talk to a homeless person on a public rest spot close to a coffeehouse's wifi, such a nice man who just needed to deal with some difficult times. His laptop was about all he had left. I really want to understand more about you and anything you feel you want to share is good either in comment or in posts ($) but only i something you want to discuss and I hope to lift your spirits. we all need this.

I feel really sorry for all the Venezuelan people out there. Venezuela is in a hyper-inflation crisis. Recently,a 100000 boulivar note has been introduced in Venezuela which is worth less than 2.50$......The people are suffering from cash crunch, inflation and decrease in the value of money....thus leading to deaths due to starvation.

I don't know how to respond ... the first thing I think of is 'how glad I am that--tho I feel useless and powerless and a waste of energy-&-resources sometimes--America is so enormously abundant (abundance we're afraid to lose if we give too much away) that "the drain on society" that I am is nothing but a small annoyance ' Something that might be good for you is Nichiren Buddhism ... whereas Christianity (and other religions to, I guess) preach 'providing daddy gods who care for you and their other children & want you to be happy in life (but -who never come through except in the help you get from other god-needers whom the god never helps either),' Nichiren Buddhism reveals the truth---that you never hear 'directly from God,' but you observe the activities of others who must be "in God's will" because they remain after time passes. (That's not exactly 'what Nichiren Buddhism says,' but it's what I've learned by learning their beliefs & their history.)

I"m so very sorry. I've never been to your country but have heard it used to be a beautiful and free place to live until the government changed and the dictator changed everything. I will pray for you and for all the people of your country who have been impoverished by a bad government. Your country is an example of what can happen to a country's economy and standard of living when those who govern have the wrong agenda. I hope my state of California is paying attention. I'm hoping it doesn't get any closer to becoming more like your country. Those in power who think they know best can ruin any country or state -- even those who may believe they are really doing good things.
