Are you planning to host thanksgiving dinner? Will you go to someone else's house? Even if you don't celebrate thanksgiving... how do you handle self invites from people to your get together? Have you ever had to deal with very rude people at a social gathering? What is the best positive way to handle stressful gatherings? I usually just try biting my tongue and ignore the rude behavior. No need to argue over a holiday, you know? Then again I did move several states away so my kids could avoid toxic/abusive relations.

We always host. As its just us three, my uncle and a family friend. Never stressful. Simple dinner and football.

That sounds super fun and relaxing! I usually watch the Macy's parade with my kids and then daddy sometimes watches a football game (or parts) before he has to go to work.

I prepare as much as I can in advance. Even if I can't make a whole dish, I'll wash and chop whatever I can and put it in containers so it is ready to go when I need it. I'm not afraid to accept an offer from someone to bring an appetizer or side dish. And I will taste the sangria liberally to make sure that it is perfect just before everyone arrives. Gets me prepared to deal with any situations that may arise. I usually host Thanksgiving for everyone but this year my mother decided she was going to do it.

Haha I love the sipping sangria part! My most stressful thanksgiving I was 8 months pregnant and couldn't drink! Thank you for sharing about prepping ahead! That usually is very helpful

I'm the type that would avoid confrontations especially during gatherings. I guess the best thing I've done is prepare for unexpected situations. Thankfully I've never had to deal with self invites but I think I'd still try my best to make people feel welcomed and avoid awkward situations.

I'd be biting my tongue too I think. I'm not into public confrontations. And I'd prepare ahead as much as possible. And because I'm older, I'd be making lists of what I need to do. I'd start the lists early and add to them as I think of things.
