Nov 21- Siblings using parents as threats

What do you do when your sibling "used" one or both of your parents as a threat against you?
This is a common practice in my family and my parent-in-law which I find siblings are ungrateful and horrible with misusing parents. We all should take care of old parents as they had taken care of us since young until adulthood. However when our parents had decided to live under one roof with one of our sibling, that person "takes over" the power and misused the authority over parent's mobility.
A good example is when my mother-in-law was not allowed to contact us because of a misunderstanding between my sibling-in-law and us , which had nothing to do with the old folks. It was the sibling -in-law had threatened the mother not to contact us OR ELSE..... ( you can guess what happens next ).
Isn't it ungrateful using "dirty hands" threats?
Does it happens to you too?

I'm so sorry this happens to you. We try hard not to fight, though it was much harder when my kids were teenagers.

yes, it is best that siblings not to fight with each other using parents as the golden card.

@dodoazo I know that too, but they don't think that way. Cannot understand them either and the worst part is they taught their children to do that too.

@yanzalong I agree with you but siblings do not think that way. They use parents as the bait or the golden card in their hands to obtain something

@prashu228 when the parents did not teach the children well, that is what happens when they are grown up.

No nothing like that in our family. My inlaws are both deceased but we all treated them with love and my mother is still alive but my brothers and I get along well and all love her.

@jstory07 yes, children do that because they are childish but what about grown ups? Jealousy or childish too? We call it "Power in their hands"

That is sad. It's downright mean and immature for them to do such a thing because of a dispute between siblings.

@cahaya1983 yes, I just don't understand why both sides of my sibling and sibling in-laws do that either. Get attention?
