Another place I would love to see is the Grand Canyon. I would love to walk on the glass observation deck, and tack a trip to the bottom (please let me take a helicopter back up though.) Technically I have seen it from an airplane twice, but I would love to see this unique and beautiful place up close and personal at some point in my life, too. Awesome video:

I have been to the south rim, we stayed in one of the park department cabins for a night. It is just as spectacular as you would think, just stunning.

@FayeHazel Picture perfect, the colors are so bright you have a hard time believing mother nature created them.

@BelleStarr I know things are usually much better in person and I imagine the difference is even great in this situation :-)

Ohhhhh, we had been thinking about going there for a long time - still haven't done it. We want to get there by train! Seen millions of photos of the view - how magnificent it would be to see it in person!

The Grand Canyon is beautiful, Faye! Pretty and I made a side-trip 20 years ago to see it. We drove along the South Rim on our way home from spending two weeks having adventures along the Pacific Coast in California. (There is so much for small town folks to see and do out west that we couldn't begin to see and do it all, but we tried!) I have some gorgeous pictures of Pretty (and the stuffed burro we bought at the Grand Canyon Hotel the night before) at several of the "Lookouts" along the rim. (Nope, we didn't go down into the Canyon. Pretty was 7 years old. I wasn't about to risk her riding a burro down that steep trail and back up again.) We did have one "fun" event happen at one of those stops... I picked up a pine cone. (This was before it was illegal to "disturb" the "scenery" at the Canyon. I am probably the reason that "law" came into effect. *shrug!*) A lady (and I use that term loosely) started screaming I was destroying her viewing pleasure. When one of the Park Rangers came through, he stopped to find out what the problem was... As he and I were talking, I tossed the pine cone into the Canyon. He turned to the "lady" and told her that I was no longer "disturbing" her view and ask if she was loving the view better since she could no longer see the pine cone. Then he reached down, picked up a pine cone, handed it to me and told me to have a great day. Some people concentrate too much on what others are doing instead of minding their own business.

@FayeHazel Yes, and determined to make others as unhappy as they are! I will take a look and see where those photos from the Canyon have gotten to... I will either post a couple in your discussion or start a new one and tag you to it.

That sounds like some great memories made there. I totally understand about not wanting to take a 7 yr. old into the canyon, that could be pretty stressful. Wow. I am shocked, though I probably shouldn't be at the "lady" and her behavior. Wow, some people. I think those types are really unhappy themselves

I can't imagine. Kind of funny. I want to see the canyon bad (big well into the earth) and I want to see Uluru , bad (world's biggest rock) sort of opposites lol

I have been, and I loved it. They didn't have the glass walkway back then. I wouldn't be able to afford what they charge to walk on it though.
