Water-resistant?

It is raining so hard since last night. We fear the river might swell again. If it happens our basement might sip flood waters and that is what we won't like at all.
My sister is bringing out the Christmas decorations starting with the colored lights but she cannot put them because it is raining. The lights are solar -powered.
I went out and saw the raindrops falling and saw beauty in these plants. The rain water cannot fully wet the leaves; I guess these leaves are water - resistant, don't you think so?
Do you have other water - resistant plants?

I like the sight of those water droplets on the leaves. My mother has that plant in her yard.

yes, they are beautiful violet-colored leaves and the flowers are small yet dainty.

Yup when the water beads up like that it means they are water resistant at least I think so lol. I hope your rains stops soon I know you have already had water in your basement this year.

the rains here visit us intermittently and it is either strong, or just drizzles. i fear if the river swells again.

@fishtiger58 thank you. there are marks of water on the floor of the basement, and it looked like if it will rain more for a few days, water will begin to sip in. thank God, it didn't.

@ridingbet So true, also the water lilies and in the garden there are the nasturtiums that are water repellent.

oh, yes, they are water-repellent. or waterproof? anyway, i think they mean the same, but your word is better. i also see some water hyacinths having those type of leaves where they stay afloat and don't get wet.

I have seen leaves that doesn't seem to absorb water at all and the leaves are very thick and foamy. Not similar to the one in your photo but I have no idea what the name of the plant is.

yes, they look like water-proof leaves. i have also seen the leaves of the 'gabi' where the leaves do not get wet and the rain or dew drops slide down the lowest corner of the leaf.

And the raindrops are forming very nice, beautiful.

since they do not absorb the water from the top, just the bottom - roots
