they promised me ice

Like a Girl Guide, I was prepared this morning. It will be ICY!!! they cried. Treacherous conditions!!! they warned. Absobloodylutely freezing!!! they grumbled. I was ready. Best grippy shoes? Tick. Gloves, thick scarf and woolly hat? Tick. Best non-anxious calm breathing? Tick. I took a deep breath and ventured into the unknown. And now I'm sitting on the bus, sweating like a marathon runner in whatever the hottest country in the world is, wondering why I bothered. You would think that after *this many* years of existence I would have learnt to ignore the weatherman/girl/liar. But no. I fall for it every time. Every. Single. Time. I sometimes think I am the star of my very own Truman Show. Alas, no. I'm just the girl who keeps on giving second chances. As I walked along the High Street this morning I could hear nothing but the occasional car and the Drip! Drip! Drip! of yesterday's {fairly impressive} snowfall as it melted and dribbled off the roofs. It was quite a pleasing sound.

I don't trust the weatherman. I tend to stick my nose outside first. Sometimes I forget that he's unreliable and then I get caught over prepared. It would be nice if they could at least be consistent.

@peachpurple we have a dusting. There is a snowstorm in the forecast. We'll see if it develops.

Do not worry, I am also guilty to believe the weatherman. I was ready to shovel tons of snow, and it barely covers the ground. Today it should have turned into rain, they are wrong again, it's snowing right now.

Oh well. At least you know where your shovel is!

@Poppylicious I know all the time where my shovel is, hubby told me he is going to hide my shovel, because my doctor told me not to stress my right shoulder or I will be in trouble.

The same keeps happening to me. But I prefer to have the jacket on (which I could take off any time if it’s hot) than be cold without a jacket if weatherman got it right.

A glass bottle was rougher than some of our roads and pavements were this morning...

I remember a few years ago when the whole of England turned into one giant ice rink and people were having to actually crawl across the roads on their hands and knees. If that never happens again I will be a very happy woman.

@pgntwo Oh, it was, but afterwards YouTube was awash with the evidence and that was rather funny.
