Want to get tickets to the Iceman Cometh starring Denzel Washington

I want to get tickets (for my husband and I) to The Iceman Cometh on Broadway starring Denzel Washington. I wonder if I should wait until the show opens in April to see it or if seeing it in March during previews will be okay? I did see The Parisian Woman starring Uma Thurman during previews and loved it! The cheapest discount tickets for The Iceman Cometh run at $125/ea. Once the fees are added the total comes to $136/ea. For two tickets it will be $272. It's still not cheap but not as pricey as others. The downside is that these seats are three rows from the back of the mezzanine, which seems a bit far. If I get closer seats, the next set runs at $159/ea. With fees it comes out to $170/ea. So, I will have to pay $340 for two tickets. And that's a bit much. On the other hand it is Denzel Washington and I'd prefer to sit closer. Although for the Uma Thurman play we sat higher up and it was still great view. UPDATE: I ended up getting tickets for $125/ea. With fees I thought it would be $272 for two tickets, as I wrote above, but it actually came out to $275 because there was another $3 fee added to the total. Seats are three rows from the back of the mezzanine but in the center section. View should be good, assuming we don't get a tall person sitting in front of us. Of course, I'd prefer to sit closer, but spending even $275 is a lot of money for me. So, these seats will have to do.

That is incredibly expensive to see a play even with Denzel Washington.

It's way cheaper than Hamilton tickets. Those are a rip-off in terms of price. That's why I never saw it and probably never will. Prices for Hamilton tickets are in the high hundreds to thousands.

@JohnRoberts I got the $125 tickets and these were discounted seats. Regular price is $159. They will have to do. I paid $275 when all the fees were added. That's rather high but it is Denzel Washington. Seems this play was released multiple times in the past and this is the latest revival of it. I got the impression that The Iceman Cometh was a one man show because on the Playbill website under the cast it only showed him. Prices are that high probably because it is Denzel Washington. I wanted to get tickets to Hello Dolly! with Bette Midler but tickets for her were $229, at least those that were still available. So, sadly I won't be seeing her. I am not sure if Hamilton prices have dropped. Have not checked in a while. I remember trying to get tickets the second a new batch went on sale and there was nothing available but premium overpriced seats for like I think $800. No way will I ever spend that much money on a ticket.

@lovebuglena Hamilton is now touring with road shows so surely those tickets must be less expensive. These prices are outrageous. I know The Iceman Cometh. It's an O'Neill play with one set (a saloon) though many characters. But nothing fancy or special effects so why so high?

Thank you! I will go for sure. Just have to figure out when and at what price.

Sometimes it is worth paying a bit extra to ensure you are able to have good seats. You might never get this chance again and it would be a shame if you sat there the whole night wishing you'd spent a bit more.

You make a great point here. I don't want to sit there thinking I should have gotten other seats.

I'm not sure which seats would be best. Have a great time, anyway!

Closer is always better. But then again if you get a really tall person in the row in front of you, no seat is good, regardless of where it is or how much you paid for it.
