On Monday I feel my throat is itchy and quite difficult to swallow. Yesterday I decided to ask for a medicine in the pharmacy here. I was give antibacterial erythromycin I should take two times a day for 7 days. But this morning I already feel better. I swallow and I feel okay no more tonsillitis. Maybe I will drink for just 3 days and I will save the other medicine for future use in case I have tonsillitis again

It's good that its helping so fast but I don't think stopping the antibiotic is a good idea as the pain will come right back.

@Platespinner is right. It is not a good idea to stop taking the antibiotics. As Joanne says, you could develop a resistance to the antibiotic which would make future infections harder to cure. Just because you feel okay doesn't mean there are still some germs in your system.

NEVER, for no reason stop an antibiotic. I am surprised that a pharmacy gave you an antibiotic without a medical prescription, here they are absolutely not allowed, because of the danger of people who stop to take them before.

@averygirl72 Ask to the pharmacist who gave you this antibacterial. May be in this case you are not obliged to continue.

The reason you shouldn't is that the germs that survived so far will be stronger in the future and harder to destroy, so I hope you take it all. I glad your feeling a little better.

Antibiotics should be taken for 7 days. Doctors would always tell me that and so is my daughter who is a doctor. When it is stopped before the 7 days, they said that your ailment is mot likely to be back after sometime.

Very bad idea to stop the antibiotics. You MUST, and I repeat you MUST do the whole treatment.

@averygirl72 It's best. You give your body a better fighting chance when you use all the medication. Only stop it if the doctor gives the okay.
