Do you know someone that smokes? Have they tried to stop? Do they want to stop? Facts About Smoking: *70% of smokers want to quit but can't. * 1 out of every 5 deaths in the US is due to smoking. * Non-smokers usually live at least ten years longer than smokers. * About 1 in 10 smokers do not tell their doctors they smoke. That means about 4 million people are more apt to have reactions to certain medications and some other things. If smokers are more aware of their triggers, have support, ask their doctor for help, and set a quit date they are more apt to quit.

@celticeagle My youngest said he can't smoke at work, not even outside on the property, and might be able to quit because of it.

All good advice but I would amend that 70 percent want to quit but wont. Cant feels like the wrong word. Everyone can.

I quit smoking 25 years ago, now the doctor never notices anything unusual about my lungs. But I do have two grandsons who smoke and I wish they didn't.

Those are some frightening statistics for smokers. I've never been tempted to smoke, nor has my husband, but our son smoked for a few years. Thankfully he managed to give up.
