Showdown of Talents on Christmas Eve: Do you do this?

During my childhood years, my family and relatives used to gather the kiddies in the living room. It is an activity where my cousins, siblings and I showcase our talents and the judges are the adults in the family circle. It was like performing on stage and having an audition in front of the proud parents and relatives. It was fun and childhood experience that can never be forgotten. I know things had changed through the years but it is a memory that lingered into my mind every Christmas seasons. “Do you have this kind of activity in the family? “Do your kids showcase their talents on Christmas Eve?” Image Credit: pixabay.com

That sounds fun but we don't have that activity when we are young. We just share the meal together on Christmas eve

Back when I was growing up, I think this type of thing was more common than it is today. Many times anymore, people are too busy. They just don't want to take the time to enjoy something like this. I miss the days of being able to watch kids perform and show off their new talents and such

I do agree with you. It doesn't happen often in the modern days. It was a reminiscing moment to remember the old days.

@Ithink I can a picture-perfect of having a reunion in a big family. It was a good feeling. Now, it is totally different. After the burial of my late father, his siblings tried to push us away. We don't need to let us be treated this way, so it is better to end the family-ties with them.

I came from a nuclear family. You can imagine having 9 siblings on my father side. It was fun seeing more than 20 cousins during the Christmas Eve. But then, it is a history now. It will never happen to have a family reunion in the future.

Not at home, I don't think. That was good for the kids; at least they were happy to be able to show it to their loved ones.

Not on Christmas Eve but we have done this during holidays. Neighbouring kids would all get together and put up a play. There would be tickets too. Mother's sarees would be used for screens and the auditorium would be our portico. Those were the days.

When growing up in the states there were Latvian organized celebrations where the children had to recite poems to get presents.
