The Colorado Avalanche

I was digging through some old photos, when I came across this little gem: the two Colorado Avalanche Stanley Cup Banners, which I took at the last Avalanche game that I attended. Beginning life in the former World Hockey Association as the Quebec Nordiques, the Colorado Avalanche moved to Denver in 1995, promptly winning a Stanley Cup in their first season in Colorado (their second Stanley Cup Championship came in 2001. They are the only National Hockey League team to win all of it's Stanley Cup finals appearances.) The team holds the NHL record for most conservative sellouts at 487. I've lost count, but I'm sure that I have been to well over a hundred Avalanche games, both regular season and playoffs. How much do I love this team? I once spent $500 for a game five playoff matchup between the Avalanche and Los Angeles Kings. (In fact, I don't even want to guess just how much money I've spent going to all those games. Let's just say a lot. And more on top of that! ) And while they aren't very good lately, they are still my favorite team. And they always will (did I mention that I have a tattoo of the team logo? Well, I do.) I've attached a highlight video of Game Seven of the 2001 Stanley Cup Finals, against the New Jersey Devils. I'm biased, but it's awesome! Go Hockey! (Info verified by Wikipedia)
Game 7 highlights between the Colorado Avalanche and New Jersey Devils. The date of this game was Saturday, June 9, 2001.

Yes I recall when the Avalanche moved here to CO Scott. Wow you really are a fan..high dollars for those tickets. I remember my son had a cool jersey..dont know where it went to. I think out of all the games I could watch, it would def be the Avalanche if I could.

I'll watch any hockey game if I have the opportunity, because I love the sport, but I only root for the Av's.

@dgobucks226 - I do watch highlights once in awhile. It's always fun getting to watch Raymond Bourque finally getting to hoist the Cup.

@arthurchappell - I know quite a few people who aren't. I can't help it, I've been watching sports since I was a kid.

Wow, over a hundred games--that's dedication. I don't like watching ice hockey on TV, but it's a whole new world when your at a game. I've only been to one, but it was so exciting.
