'No phone' policy at work

We are allowed to use our phone at work. But a lot of organizations are very strict about using cell phones at work. Mostly for security reasons they say. Some people like it saying they do not have to deal with whatsapp messages for 12 hours. Others say life is boring without using the net, facebook and whatsapp while at work. Whats your take on it? Those who have a full time job - are you allowed to use your cell phone at work? And if not do you like the 'no phone' policy ?

We are allowed to use mobile phones here at our workplace. But if it's not allowed it doesn't matter because we get very little time to use it for browsing social sites.

We very often post our official work on social media sites so we are allowed to use all social media sites at work.

My work is connected to the use of the phone but I will be very happy if only 1 day a week we have the no phone policy.

Sometimes having a phone is a pain when we are troubled too much. I make sure I am away from the phone most of the time on weekends and holidays.

When I was working I was allowed to use my mobile phone, which I also used for company business as well. I do understand the "No phone" policy applied by many companies because many people would spend a lot of time on Facebook and text messaging.

@mayka123 Since all companies have telephones it cannot be a security problem to use a mobile.

@Asylum May be it is because mobile phones can take pictures and these can cause security problems. Cannot think of any other reason.

Companies give security reasons for not allowing people to use phones at work. I too need to use the phone for office work.

This rule applies to our office as well and everyone follows it. I see nothing wrong with companies preventing employees to bring their mobile phones in the OPs area.

I think once you get used to not using your phone a work then its no problem. We are so used to having our phone with us all the time that in the beginning we may feel a little lost.

Well, I am allowed to use it since I have to travel for work.Also, clients prefer to call me on my mobile.

Having a phone has become a necessity today for all. Would be handicapped without one.
