We do not have cashew trees here, we import the nuts already peeled, ready to eat. They are expensive.

@kavinitu I have seen these markets , but somehow I have feeling lot of manipulation in terms of quality of cashews happen there. There are lot of duplicate stuff and things like that around. I may be wrong though, but really found huge differences in quality and taste of different shop cashews at more or less same price.

@avi256 Yeah it does happen there nowadays, nothing is being genuine as it use to be earlier. People are more bothered about making money no matter if its on the cost of peoples health.

Yeah they are very costly, and India is the country from where it is exported to the rest of the Globe. We have a huge market in Goa India where you will find shops loaded with all types of Cashews.

I did not know cashews would be there this time of year. My cashew tree is in flower and I expect cashews raining here around March. I prefer cashew kernels pealed. (lol)

Yeah they are very expensive it takes a long effort to get them to the shape they are and most of all they are imported in most of the countries and India is one of the biggest exporters of these nuts.

If you could, please share a few photos of the cashew fruits. They are really interesting looking fruits. (Do you have to wear gloves to peel the nuts off? Someone told me many years ago (when I was a tot) that if I bit into the fruit, it would burn my mouth. Is that true? (I haven't seen one for years since.)

Not exactly you don't need to wear gloves while removing them, Yeah the fruit will burn your mouth if you bite it.

@kavinitu Oh, so only the biting, thanks for that info. Can you use the flesh of the fruit at all? Sounds such a waste if you had to get rid of that yummy looking part. I was a tiny kid at the time visiting some relatives and the neighbor of that relative had a few cashew trees among other fruit trees. (They were considered as very well off in that region!)
