Can I play a Mafioso in a movie?

I don't look like what people think of when they see a person of Italian or Sicilian. But, there are blue-eyed people in that part of the world. A local film director has asked me to play the part of an American Mafia "Don" or gang leader in a film he will do in March. The director, Paul, is gay and some of the characters in the film will be too. Maybe I need to watch Marlon Brando in one of the "Godfather" films to pick up a bit of an accent without going overboard. Now that I think about it, Brando had deep blue eyes. He sent me the script and I think I have three scenes and not too many lines. It is well-written and quite funny really. What Paul plans to do with this feature length film, I have no idea. Unlike the photo here, the script is very contemporary, dealing with some high tech issues. There won't be any pay, I'm sure, upfront, but if it becomes a cult film, who knows?

What fun that should be! I'm certain you will do very well. Now we have to think of a good mafioso name for you!

Maybe a casting agent will 'spot' you and you'll be on your way. Perhaps I should get your autograph now before you become famous and want me to pay for it.

That sounds like it will be great fun. Just don't take tips about the accent from Hugh Grant in 'Mickey Blue Eyes'.

@JamesHxstatic It's about the only Hugh Grant film I like. It's quite a funny twist on the amiable, stuttering, upper-class Englishman he plays in every film he's in!!

@WorDazza I commented on this yesterday and it is gone! So, what I said was that I missed that movie, but it looks hilarious, so I found it on Netflix. Thanks for mentioning it!

@andriaperry Well, hardly, but this would be my third feature and my daughter told me I have a page on IMDB. I think I live in the wrong place to be a star, but it is a good hobby.

Yes you can be a mafioso on a movie if you want so. The only thing i could suggest is that you have to be you in the role and not someone else. You can leave your mark without putting some godfather on it.

It sounds like a fun role, it's a great opportunity to play the mafia since most people don't have interactions with mafia people.
