Favorite "Highway" Songs #3 - "Highway to Hell"

I've been MIA for a couple days, but we now return to our regularly scheduled programming, in this case, my @JohnRoberts suggested countdown of songs with "highway" in the title. We are at #3, and no surprise here: "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC. While it was not the band's biggest hit, "Highway to Hell" might just be Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band AC/DC's most popular song. Sadly, it was the swan song of original vocalist Bon Scott, who died just six months after the song's release. While it could be assumed the song is about a decadent lifestyle, the lyrics actually refer to the group's then-grueling tour schedule. The title track to the band's 1979 album, "Highway to Hell," with it's classic guitar riff, was an international hit, having charted in 13 countries over the course of a few decades (eight different years, variously,) since it's release (and it's landed on a lot of iPods as well. The song reached #1 on Billboard's Digital Singles chart in 2012. A bona fide rock and roll classic! I've linked to the official video. Enjoy! (Hell-bound info verified by Wikipedia)

Kind of the opposite of my favorite Highway Song, "Carefree Highway," by Gordon Lightfoot.

@teamfreak16 The humanity! I like pretty much anything by Lightfoot before 1977 or so.

I love that track. You should do a list of songs or albums that are suitable for listening to on a road trip down a long empty highway. An album you could include would be Songs for the Deaf by Queens of the Stone Age.

It might be interesting to do a road trip countdown.

Thumbs up!! As I may have mentioned a time or 50, I’m not a big AC/DC fan but the songs of theirs I do like are Bon Scott-era songs.

@teamfreak16 — he played bagpipes on “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock and Roll),” so that set him apart, period.

One of favorite AC/DC tunes. HIghway to Heaven would of been a better theme but after all "are they not Rockers!"

Touring must really be the pits sometimes. One of our house-concert musicians did a great gig but wasn't well. We got him to a doctor next morning and they sent off tests. He went on to the next town for more gigs and later we heard the tests showed he had diphtheria of all things.

@teamfreak16 I think they were back home before he got the results! They were all in their 60s too. But I guess the show must go on.

Yes I know this one, probably could sing it and get all the words right too. What is funny is there was this question thing on facebook, " what would your tomb stone say if it were a song" or something like that. Mine was " highway to hell"

@nela13 - Axl's voice is pretty good fit for them. I wasn't sure how he would work out with his massive ego.

@teamfreak16 in 2016 they had a tour in Europe and I went to their concert but at that time Brian Johnson was replaced by Axel Rose, it wasn't bad but I prefer the first one. The concert was amazing.

I knew this one would be on here. I don't like AC/DC very much but their intros are really good.
