Have Your Number of Friends Decreased Over The Years?

According to a CNN article "25" is the peak number when it comes to friendships. It's the age that people have the most friends and social contacts. Maybe you started to notice a dropoff in friends and acquaintences when you married and started raising kids. Or perhaps you might not have the time you used to when it comes to socializing and making new friends. I am sure as we hit our 30's, 40's and beyond it becomes harder for many to put ourselves out there socially. You might possibly have your own reasons for not having as many friends as you did in your 20's. What do you think? Is it harder to make friends as you age? Most of my "newer" friends are people I meet through music and softball. Also speaker restoration. I think the number of friends is similar, but the ways I meet them are more "specialized"--common interests.

@dgobucks226 But I admit there are some evenings I just want to be left alone!

That is true. If we stay involved in social activities as you mentioned it opens up opportunities to make new friends

I was not born in Israel so for me I believe it is harder to make friends here.

@dgobucks226 Thanks DB. I went through a growing stage meeting different kinds of people and now I am at a place where I do have some friends.

Yes Hanni, I would imagine it would be much more difficult. Have you been able to make a few friends since arriving in Israel?

Yes, mine have too. Although I have made a few new ones. Life does not stand still does it?

No, it's not harder to make friends, but we have less time to dedicate to friends.

I think it's nice to make new friends at any age, but I think the more important thing is to maintain the existing friendships. When it comes to that I have to say that technology has also helped me to a certain extent.

So true about technology. Computers (e-mail), skype, Facebook are some ways to keep those friendships.

I have a nice group of friends. They have been my friends for a long time. But along my life I have lost some friends and gained others.

True, we may lose contact with friends from our past. But there are always new acquaintances we can meet.

I don't think it's harder to make friends as you age.. but that its harder to make friends when you can't trust from past bad friendships or from the way most people act these days.

That is very true because you no longer have that much time to spend with your friends.
