Recently, a 16-year-old boy in Italy sued his mother over the photos of him that she was constantly posting on her Facebook account, claiming that those photos were ruining his social life. He won! The court ordered his mother to remove all the photos of him from her Facebook account, claiming that she was invading his privacy. Do you get upset when some relative posts photos of you on their Facebook page without your permission? Do you feel your privacy is invaded? Do you post photos of your children or relatives on Facebook without their permission? What is your position on this? In this age of social media are we being forced to give up all rights to privacy? Does being a relative of someone give you the right to posting photos of them on the internet? Does being a parent of someone give you the right to post photos of your children on the internet? What's your take on this? Here is a link to the story: http://www.odditycentral.com/news/16-year-old-takes-mother-to-court-for-posting-photos-of-him-on-facebook.html#more-61821

What? A son sued his own mother because of photos? Can't he just ask his own mother to remove the photos so it didn't have to be a big issue?

From what I understand the boy did ask his mother not to post photos of him on Facebook but she refused to stop.

@MKAlubs I'm curious about the photos. What kind of photos of it that makes him say ruined his social life?

@JudyEv But he sued his own mother. Can't he just forgive his mother for doing that and moved on? It's kind of sad because I know his mother regretted it but deep inside she's hurting because he sued by her own son.

Privacy is a serious matter both in Italy and here in Switzerland, those who post photos without asking permission risk a fine of $ 10,000. I have read about this young boy in the Italian newspapers.

I don't like it when people post pictures of me without my consent, especially if they are unflattering ones (which relatives seem to love to post.) But I'm more concerned with people posting pictures of others to make fun of them. A few of my friends (people in their 40s and 50s and definitely old enough to know better) will post pictures of their neighbors exercising or wearing something unflattering and then they and their friends mock them. It makes me paranoid wondering if my neighbors might be photographing me through the window while I'm in the privacy of my own home.

I also feel annoyed at times but I won't take it to court. I think I can always talk to family

When my brother gave birth to my niece he forbade his wife to paste any birth pictures or celebration on Facebook. I won't be happy if someone posts my pictures without my approval. That's clearly invasion of privacy. I'll just tell them to remove it.

It's a shame he had to take her to court. I'm so glad I'm not on FB. Luckily I'm at an age where no-one is very interested in posting photos of me anywhere.

I say good for the boy. I post pictures of myself and my cat and if want to post from a friend then I ask if ok.
