A Spoon in the Road

Everyone has heard the old expression, 'A fork in the road." It refers to a situation where we veer off from our usual thinking and actions and take a new direction in life. Well, I was walking down the street yesterday (I do a lot of walking) and lo and behold there was a spoon laying in the road. For some reason it really made me laugh. I stopped and stared at it for a long time. I wonder what it means.

Now that's a good one for sure. Maybe somebody dropped the spoon.

Maybe the spoon wanted to join the fork in the road.

The next time I'm walking along the road I may end up looking for a knife.

It means that someone threw the spoon of his lunch or dinner instead of disposing in a bin.

This post made me laugh. I would have been laughing too. I was walking past my local graveyard the other day when the phrase "another one bites the dust" suddenly became clear to me. It's funny when we think about language and its place in our lives.
