Letting your diabetes get out of control can cause a increased risk of serious diseases. Keeping it in control can have the opposite affect and fend off the risk of developing complications. Keeping insulin, inflammation and blood sugar under control can be done by eating these foods: * Nuts are a great snack and a good source of fiber. As do Chia seeds. * Eggs protect eye health and promote good blood sugar as well as improve risk factors for heart disease. * Green leafy vegetables protect eye and heart health having rich nutrients and antioxidants. * Fatty fish reduces inflammation and risk factors for stroke and heart disease due to the omega-3 fats it contains. * Turmeric has curcumin which can reduce blood sugar levels and protects again kidney disease. Cinnamon improves insulin sensitivity, cholesterol and triglyceride levels in type 2 diabetics.

My hubby is a diabetic. Both of us are doing better now that we eat mostly a plant based diet. I just talked with a friend who can't get her eating under control- 300 pounds for weight- insulin costs a whole heck of a bunch, on and on. All I can do is listen to her cause she lives far away and if she won't eat healthy, well, I just listen.

Yes, a relative of mine has a doctor that told her to take cinnamon tablets. By the way, if you like oranges, sprinkle some cinnamon on top of a slice, and be prepared to love it!

It's good to consume theses healthy food but it's better to avoid food high in sugar aside from table sugar. Some fruits like banana and mangoes have high sugar in them which you have to take in moderate amount.
