Not going back to work just yet!

Not going back to work just yet! If you have read my other posts, I currently have a catheter in after problems of going to the bathroom for a pee. After being on the phone and trying to get through to the right department, I managed to get hold of the right person I needed to talk to YAY. When I went to A&E last week with my problem they never transferred all the details over to the department that needed them. It will be at least another week before I do get the catheter out as I need to have a “Trail without Catheter” and if all things are working I should be ok. At least while the Catheter is in, it’s giving time for the medication to work and reduce the size of the Prostate which is the root of the problem in the first place, joys of getting old! Well, time to sit back and enjoy time away from work although I have been busy doing other things.

@shaggin The meds I have are called "Contiflo XL" which will help in reducing the size of the prostate. The Prostate can be taken out, but I think last is the last result, I guess I will get to know more with time.

Age is a factor in it, it affects many men once the hit 50+ I believe it grows slowly but over time it becomes too large and presses against your pee pipe.

Hope all goes well for you. My husband has just been told he has to have a similar procedure and he's still coming to terms with the diagnosis. Unfortunately the doctors tell you the worst case scenario so it's hard to focus on the positive outcomes.

Sorry to hear about your husband, yes it's hard to take in because it only seems like yesterday everything was ok and no real signs of things wrong. Looking back I had a problem back in August, but it soon cleared up and everything was fine until November. That also soon cleared up and didn't think anything of it. It's not nice having a catheter in but I was so grateful on the day it was put it. I think the waiting for it to be removed is so it gives time for the medication to start working and reducing the prostate size so when the catheter is taken out you should be ok.

Oh well. I guess all you can do is make the most of the 'holiday' you didn't expect. Hope it all works out well.
