The grandson of a friend of mine, who lives in Texas, sent me his "Flat Stanley." Flat Stanley is based on a children's book about a character who is flattened when a bulletin board falls on him. The children are supposed to send Flat Stanley to someone in another state or country so Flat Stanley can have an adventure. I took a bunch of photos of Flat Stanley in Laguna Beach and Las Vegas, then sent them to the teacher of my friend's grandson. She will post all the photos on a map in her classroom, so the children can see all the different places the Flat Stanley characters went. One of the photos I took is above. It was taken in Las Vegas. I will post some of the other photos I took in the comment section. It's a fun project for children, and I enjoy helping with it. This is the third time I have done it!

I love this idea, two years ago I took Peppa the Pig and her brother George with me all over Florida and every day I texted my daughter to show my 4-year-old grandson Jack what they were doing. He loved it and took possession of both of them when we got home lol Enjoy Las Vegas.

@BelleStarr - Belle, that is a wonderful idea! I think I may do that sometime for some of my younger grandchildren before I take gifts to them when we visit. I love that idea! Here's a picture of Flat Stanley in Laguna Beach!

@DeborahDiane That is pretty cool to send him all over so he can see different places and have great adventures. So, what did you think of Las Vegas? I was there about 3 times. I loved to watch people there.

@Hannihar - We go to Las Vegas about once or twice a year to meet my sister, who has to go there for business. It is a crazy town, but I like to people watch there, too. There are some interesting people there ... a lot of them pretending to be richer or cooler than they really are! LOL

@Hannihar - Yes, we enjoy playing the slot machines, shopping, and just walking around. We have seen some fun plays and musicals there, too.

@DeborahDiane I liked going there. I thought it was such an entertaining place. When I lost lots of weight I went shopping there and loved to play the slop machines.

I love that! The LA County Fair has a Flat Stanley competition in the children's division . . . there is a cut out Flat Stanley and kids have to draw in the background. That makes a great classroom project!

I loved Flat Stanley when i was a kid. I'd love to go to Vegas with him. He could slip between the cards at the Blackjack table and tell me what card was coming next.

My grandson sent me Flat Stanley years ago. It was a great project for his class. I took pictures of him swimming in our bird bath, mowing the lawn with grandpa, making cookies with grandma and many other different things. It was a joy to do this.

@HazySue - I'm so glad to hear from another grandmother who has done this. I thought it was sooo much fun. It sounds like you got into the spirit of the thing, too. I even found strangers at the beach who were willing to hold him for me, so I could get a picture. Great ice-breaker! LOL

@DeborahDiane I also took it to school and took pictures with some of my students. At the time I was teaching a self-contained class of 6,7, and 8th graders. They had a good time with it.

I have a buddy of mine who lives in a different city than me here in Florida, yet whenever I go out to a brewery I always tag him in my social media check-ins, even if he's not there. Over the years, the "phantom" version of him has become known as Flat Jimmy. Other people have picked up on it, so now all his friends tag him wherever they are, sort of as a running joke. Flat Jimmy sure gets around!

@JamesHxstatic - Thanks, James, for your message. I have been trying to catch up here on MyLot, as well as with other things (like grocery shopping), so I am a bit behind. I appreciate your message, though. We had fun in Las Vegas, especially because I was able to see my father. At his age, we never know how much longer he will be around. Here's another picture we took of Flat Stanley overlooking Laguna Beach and one of my favorite sculptures of a whale.
