I started knitting yesterday and saw I made mistakes and took it apart

I do not know how to knit without making mistakes. This time I took as much as I could apart and will start all over again. Who here knows a simple way how to fix mistakes while knitting so do not have to rip it apart and start all over again?

Not I! I can knit, but that's all I can do. I don't know how to cast on or off, purl, or make anything! Perhaps you can find a YouTube video.

Dianne, great idea to check out youtube. I didn't know how to cast on and off until this person showed me. Now, I can do it but still make mistakes.

There are a lot of knitting tutorials on YouTube. You can learn a lot from them.

@Hannihar It is just normal to make mistakes when starting to knit or crochet. All you need is patience to undo and restart. Are you going to show us an example of your work soon? I hope so.

Thanks Nnaemeka. I wish I knew how to correct them and not have to take it apart and start over again.

Although I can knit I much prefer to crochet. It is quick and easy to undo and much quicker to redo than knitting so even if you have to undo some it is easy to get under way again. I don't think there is a simple way to fix mistakes when knitting.

I should learn...I don't even know the difference between the two!

@TheHorse Probably the simplest way to explain it is that knitting used two needles and crochet uses a single hook.

even when i crochet, i have to look intently at the design, because i could rip the finished product and rectify the mistake.

I hate ripping out and starting all over again with knitting. I will have to watch the youtube and see if will help me.

@Hannihar yes, all the efforts will be futile if we do rip the product and start all over again

i would just leave it in and continue. if someone says anything just tell them it is your trade mark. lol. so all will know who done it. thats what i used to do when beading, pretty much the same concept.

Now bonnie that is an interesting way to do it. I would be embarrassed. I have a hard time undoing my mess so do what I can and now I am continuing on.

@beenice2 I continue to knit and see if can fix the mistakes in the end. I have to correct something here. I have not knitted in ages and should one day pick it up again. Right now I have enough to deal with.

I crochet but I don't know how to knit, Hanni... I am willing to bet there isn't a way to fix a mistake in either one without taking everything apart down to the mistake and start again from there.

I have never really tried knitting. Let us know if you find a good solution. The mistakes I make on wood projects can usually be corrected pretty quickly.
