I learnt to swim rather late in life and I just about managed to swim in the children's pool and not beyond.
My husband got me a one piece swim suit and when we went to Singapore we bough one more but never a two piece swim suit. Now I do not swim thanks to my broken back.
Talking about swim suit this song came to mind. We sang this at most picnics.

I remember this song well. At one time I had a two-piece costume but it wasn't anything like a bikini. Now I have a one-piece with a skirt. I can get across a pool but battle to get the length of it - and I don't like going over my depth.

For you out there it is common for most to be seen in a two piece swim suit. India has yet to reach there.

@sallypup Wen I first started going to the pool I used to feel awkward wearing that swim suit. Soon I got used to it as everyone else had swim suits there and no one looked at you.

I have a huge collection of swimsuits as I love swimming but not in the pool. I love swimming and snorkelling in the ocean and I could stay in the water all day! Every time we go to an island, I always have a new pair of swimsuit and I'll bring three to four sets with me both one piece and two pieces.

My dad used to sing that song to me when I was little. (But not in a weird way.) hahaha
One-piece bathing suits can be cute, I've seen some really pretty ones out there lined in jewels and laced with fancy designs. And 2-piece bikinis are for when you're feeling bold...and have been doing sit-ups and crunches all Spring in preparation for summer. If you haven't been doing those sit-ups, BE CAREFUL.

Here in India boldness is just about being shown and that too the youngsters dare to. I am an oldie and I only went to the pool during the ladies' session and that too wearing a one piece suit (lol)
Thanks to youtube we are lucky that we can get to all songs of yester years.
