Bon Ami on Le Creuset?

A question for any of you with Le Creuset enameled cookware -- is it safe to use Bon Ami on this? One of my pans has a dark stain inside that doesn't want to budge. I've already scrubbed it with baking soda and that's not doing the trick. I know Bon Ami is supposed to be a non-abrasive cleanser, but wanted to get some opinions before I scratched up my expensive pan.

I would not use a powder cleanser inside my Le Creuset pans. To remove a dark stain inside the pan the best is to pour a few tablespoon of bleach inside the pan, let it rest a couple of ours and then rinse and wash the pan. I checked the French site of Le Creuset they confirm never to use powder cleanser.

@LadyDuck You are not afraid of "poisoning" yourself with bleach?

@marlina Bleach is good to remove stains. I use it also for the coffee mugs.

Have you tried an SOS pad? Just kidding, I have no idea. I've never used this stuff.

I definitely don't want to use an SOS pad on a Le Creuset!

It is not available in France. I had a look, it is a mix of various light abrasive+soda. As they tell that a main use is to clean glass, it seems safe to use it on enamel.

Apparently Le Creuset sells their own cleaner, but it seems expensive.

@topffer Doesn't the bleach wear out the finish?

I'm not the person to ask. Bon Ami (appropriately mispronounced) reminds me of The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

I would look at the ingredients in the Le Creuset specialized cleanser. If it is the same or close I'd use it.

They seem like very good hard wearing cookware. I was just looking at an orange coloured one and it would seem safe for you to use that powder you mention. Me I just use a wooden spoon for anything that sticks and hot soapy water for about ten minutes which reminds me I have to wash up right now.

I know nothing About either thing. So I will not be any help. However see if you can find sample of their brand cleaner

I was looking at it on Amazon, and it's $25 a bottle. Some of the higher end kitchen stores around here might carry it, but I've already got a can of Bon Ami in my cabinet.

@spiderdust there's gotta be something else you can use on it. Can you find out what the ingredients are in it, and see if there's another option.
