It's OK. It's Vegan. So You Can Eat Like a Pig!

I have to laugh at myself. I got nothing against vegetarians and vegans. In fact, sometimes I wish I had been brought up to eat that kind of diet. Because meat-eating is a hard habit to break.
Take for example this picture of hot dogs found on Instagram.
* My 1st thought.
I admit it. My mind started imagining the joys of eating a hot dog covered in mac-n-cheese. A hot dog? With macaroni and cheese? Really??? Even meat-eaters don't imagine such things!
Hey! Don't blame me for me salivating. I've been psychologically conditioned.
Then I read the caption for the picture.
It's not really a real hot dog. And it's not really real mac-n-cheese. It's vegan!
* So what was my 2nd thought?
Oh! It's vegan! That means I can eat more than one! Right??
LOL. It's OK. If it's vegan you can eat like a pig!
* * *
Of course, I know that isn't true. Overeating is bad. No matter what. But the thoughts did cross my mind.

You're probably right. People tend to equate vegan food with low fat, low calories, etc. That's not always true.

@LadyDuck - Well that explains my diet tip when I was younger. I am a meat eater. But a typical lunch or dinner was 3 items: a meat, a starch, and a vegetable. When I would diet to lose a few words, I would just eliminate the starch (rice, pasta, bread, potato) from my diet for a couple of weeks. The pounds dropped off easily. I'm older now. The pounds don't drop as quickly.

@cmoneyspinner Pasta, bread, rice, cheese are full of calories, a lot more than lean meats.

Vegans are really hard to please. That's true.
I was watching "Dancing With the Stars". One of the dance instructors went out to lunch with his student and his student was a strict vegan and she was really being difficult with the waiter or waitress about the food she was ordering. He said he was thinking something like: 'Oh no! They're going to serve us our food laced with poison. They're so mad at her!'

I am not a vegetarian. It is better to have a balanced diet ,and that moderation in diet is the way to good health.

:S While I was reading this post the only thing that came to mind was why do they make some of the products look like meat?? If they are so not into meat why all of their plant based products look like meat? Is it to help us the meat eaters to break the habit of eating meat?

Funny. Someone else asked the same question on a TV cooking show. It's not for the vegans. It's used to entice meat-eaters to stop eating meat by giving them something that "looks like" meat. I guess it will help with making the transition from meat to vegan. I don't know!

Moderation is the key. As for diets, pick one that you can stick to and you are all set.
