How Can I Be So Careless and Unmindful!

I don’t know if I was careless or my mind was flying that is why my hand got burned this morning at the office. I was getting hot water for my mug, but instead of placing the mug I suddenly realized my right hand, face down was what was under the faucet of the hot water dispenser. The moment I felt the hot water, I realized my mistake and immediately took it out and shut the faucet! I panicked but I ran very cold water in my hand. Then, still in panic after that, I wiped it with white flower embrocation! The more that it was painful because of the minty embrocation! The whole morning, my right hand’s top was painful. But I carried on with what I was doing on my computer and this mid-afternoon, the pain was gone already. Have you experienced a similar accident in any of your body parts? Did you panic? What did you do?

The Security personnel only had some gauze which after a while I placed around my hand to at least protect it from things that can harm it more while it was still throbbing. When one is in panic, carelessness follows.

I have only once burned my hand with hot water. It was long ago and I don't remember the details However I do know that you should not panic and do all you can to help yourself. Here is a link you might be interested in so that if it ever happens again you'll know just what to do. Hope your hand feel much better.
More than 112,000 people in the United States go to the emergency room every year for scald burns, according to the City of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Fire Department. Skin burned by boiling water has been scalded. Layers of skin absorb the heat. Tissue is

@LadyDuck I am sorty to hear that, Anna. Though, sometimes, we are unmindful of what we do, it leads us to accidents. really, the blister was as big as a golf ball. It must be so painful?

@SIMPLYD I had a pan in the oven (very hot 250 Celsius). I took it out wearing an oven mitt on my right hand. I do not know for which reason, I grabbed the pan with my left hand unprotected. I was in horrible pain and a big blister immediately formed. My husband rushed me to the ER, they gave me a pain killer. They had to remove the liquid that had formed inside the blister, apply a special ointment and bandage. I had to see a nurse during a full week to change the bandage and apply the ointment. The blister was as big as a golf ball.

@DianneN No, it didn't turn into blisters. But it colored reddish black, I have to ask our daughter doctor what to put. So I put silver sulfadiazine on it twice a day. Now, it has almost completely peeled. Hopefully, it will not leave a scar.

i guess you kept your hand under free-flowing cold water from the faucet, right? were there any reddish discoloration on your skin? blisters? applying something cold in a burnt area is better, than something hot or warm like the white flower or vicks. when i accidentally poured hot water in my left hand, i applied vicks and it got blistered or scalded. the scar luckily now, is diminished.

Yes, it became so red when that happened. After i applied the white flower and realized my mistake, i hurriedly got a big bowl and put very cold water and again submerged it there. After a few hours the throbbing pain was gone already. No blisters, just very dark brown on the scalded area. So you also mistakenly applied vicks ! It got so throbbing much., I can imagine as what happened to me. what did you do when it got blisters?

@SIMPLYD i was still in my high school year when i accidentally burned my hand. i did not know about the first sid for burns since i haven't graduated from HS yet.my mother (+) told me to apply tomato. it was so painful but i did not drink any analgesics. when it had blisters, i remember trying to open the blister with a pin, and when the fluid escaped out, and the skin was exposed to outside air, the more it hurt. i have a high threshold of pain so i was able to tolerate it.

@rheicel So, we almost have the same accident. Instead of my mug, under the hot water dispenser, it was my hand that I inadvertently placed under it. I hope this won't scar. It has already peeled. My daughter prescribed me silver sulfadiazine.

@SIMPLYD Nope, not really. Are you familiar with thermos that you needed to press down so the hot water would come out? That's how I got my first ever 2nd-degree burn instead of placing the glass correctly on the thermos I wrongly placed my hand on the hot water. I sent right away to the hospital to have the treatment and applied a cream on it thank God there were no scars.

I got a thumb of mine inside a fan that was turned on and my thumb got injured. Fortunately after a succesful operation I was fine. But the effect of that accident is very much there on my thumb. I was a small kid when this incident took place with me. It really hurts. I was slightly lost in my own thoughts when that incident took place with me.
