This is the true story of the mysterious plane hijacker known as D.B. Cooper(Dan Cooper) who got away with $200,000 of ransom money on 24 November 1971.
A man with a black suite and tie with nothing in luggage but just a regular briefcase addressing himself as Dan Cooper boarded a flight #305 Northwest Airlines to Seattle from Portland.
As the plane was about to land in Seattle he gave a note to the female flight attendant in which he demanded $200,000 in cash and 4 parachutes.
He also showed the flight attendant the briefcase in which he said was a bomb which he would use in case of his demands are not met and will not let the passengers off board until the ransom money was agreed.
No one accept for the flight crew knew that the plane had been hijacked, it was only after the passengers arrived on Seattle airport they knew that they had been hijacked.
The demands of the D.B. Cooper were met and just after 45 minutes as the plane took off from Seattle with only the flight crew and Cooper back to Portland he jumped of the flying plane with the parachute and the ransom money in the dark.
Even the crew never knew that Cooper had jumped of the plane until they reached Portland Airport.
With only two parachutes left behind Mr. Cooper had vanished away in the dark forever, till date leaving no trace of him or the $200.000 ransom money he took
away with him.
Its been more than 4 decades now that the mystery still remains unfolded as to where did this guy vanish away with such a huge amount of money.

it is quite an extraordinary story - read of it before a few times - unlikely to ever be solved

@arthurchappell I think they would be much interested in what he did with those $200,000.
The first question they will ask him if he is ever found alive, do you have anything left of the money
And he will answer NO I purposely came in from the hide out so I can repeat the same again

Wow, how cool and calm was he? I hope he didn't get killed parachuting down to earth. How interesting.

Very enjoyable read. Pretty ingenious and daring on the thief's part. Gives new meaning into vanished into thin air?
