Costco lunch today

I did part 2 of my grocery shopping this morning at Costco, which was a monumental task in itself, and fell victim to the lure of the food court's siren call. But really, who can blame me, when I can get an all-beef hot dog or Polish dog with a 20 oz. beverage for $1.50?
Did you know the price of Costco's hot dog combo has stayed the same since 1985? I just learned that a few moments ago while looking for a photo to illustrate this post. Also, surprisingly, the sizes of the hot dog and drink haven't gotten smaller -- they got bigger!
Right now I'm enjoying my Polish dog with brown mustard and sauerkraut while Toddler Boy dips his hot dog in ketchup.
Linked below is the article where I learned the Costco food court trivia.
Chances are that if you've ever set foot inside a Costco you've had the famous $1.50 hot dog and soda combo, but there's probably a lot you don't know about it.

They are really good quality hot dogs and Polish dogs. They also sell them in the refrigerated section, and I'd say they're on par with Nathan's or Hebrew National.
The pizza is also a really good deal too!

@spiderdust Ah, then they must be pretty flavorful - well worth the $1.50!

@much2say I can't get a meal for that price anywhere else unless I cook it at home myself.

Is toddled boy still at the cut up hot dog stage or has he graduated to eating it like a hotsog in a bun?

He has it cut in half, with the bun. He likes dipping everything in ketchup.

@thislittlepennyearns I knew someone who had ketchup with his cornflakes.

All the more reason to make sure it's a good one when you have it.

@amadeo They do have some other things that might interest you on their menu... they have a few different varieties of pizza, a chicken Caesar salad (which is huge and wonderful... I've gotten it a few times), a BBQ beef sandwich (which might be heavier than you like), and a turkey pesto sandwich.

the hotdog sandwich has another look for me personally.
i imagine it as a mouth biting a piece of hotdog and the bread's edges are like the lips of a person. the rice (?) on the top, and that green filling at the bottom looks to me like the teeth of the person biting the hotdog.
that is my perception of the beautiful mouth-watering hotdog sandwich

@ridingbet Yes, they're some of the condiments that are available for you to add to your hot dog, and you can use as little or as much as you like. They also have sauerkraut, but you have to ask for it as they keep it refrigerated behind the counter.

I love your perception!
The white part at the top is chopped onion, and the green is pickle relish. I sometimes put onion and relish on mine, although I do like to get brown mustard and sauerkraut. Ketchup is also good, but I don't always get that.1 person likes this

@Courtlynn I'm very fortunate to have several Costcos in my town, including a brand new one that opened up (with a gas station too!) just 3 1/2 miles from my home this past summer.

Yeah, we don't have a Sam's or a BJ's, so Costco is our big warehouse place.

The food court at Costco is always very popular in my town. I never knew that about the hot dog price? No wonder the food stand is always crowded, lol.

That and their $4.99 rotisserie chickens are the best deals in town.

@dgobucks226 It's another one of their loss leaders that they've found to keep at a low price without sacrificing the size or quality.

We don't have that food court item, although we do have a BBQ beef sandwich. I've gotten it a couple of times, and it's pretty good!

The Ikea hot dogs (at least here) are much smaller and a different quality. They're not terrible, but definitely not as good of a bargain.

I've never even been to a Costco. We keep talking about getting a membership. That hotdog looks really good right now.

Oh, it's definitely worth the membership price! Or at least it is for us. Even if you think that you'd have to buy too much for two people to use, I think everyone can appreciate the value of having a month's supply of toilet paper on hand.
They have the best (and easiest) return policy I've ever used too.

I don't make it over there weekly, but maybe once or twice a month. I do go a little more often in the summer, but that's because we have the stepkids more often and go through more food.

. I've never had their hot dogs - we always seem to have the pizzas since that's what the kids like. Ok, next time I'll have to try the Polish dog!!
