A Good Rainy Day's Work in the Garden

Late Afternoon Sky Between Showers

I've been really busy today. I took my first heart pill half an hour late because I was so tired last night I forgot to hit the start button on the timer I depend on to wake me up to take it. But I didn't get the palpitations! By the time I got to the living room, my hubby had Billy Graham's memorial service on TV, so I sat and watched it. That made me late getting to the garden. I had a few things I wanted to do in the garden between showers. I did a bit more pruning and planting, and I fed my irises some bone meal. I have no idea if any of the seeds I planted will come up because they are very old. But if I don't plant them, I'll never know. I hope some of the dill and basil will sprout, and it would be nice if the nigella and wildflowers, especially the lupine, would sprout. and I hope whatever sprouts, the birds will leave it n the ground so it can grow. I will cover the lettuce and whatever else I planted in pots, with row covers to keep the birds away until the plants can defend themselves. I spread organic snail bait where I didn't get it spread on Wednesday. When I finally got into the house after the rain started again before dark, I ate, did dishes, and watched a bit of TV while I ate. Then I wrote an article to submit to Virily and scheduled some of tomorrow's tweets. I was so busy I took my other heart pill half an hour late, but I still didn't get palpitations even though I had been active enough in the yard to get pretty tired. I'm hoping I finally have the right dosage figured out. The doctor gave my plan his blessing. Did anyone else tune in to Billy Graham's memorial service today? If so, what impressed you most about it? Have you done any work in your garden this week?

You are lucky that you can already prune and plant. It snows again here today. I hoped to start seeding something, but I have to wait another couple of weeks it seems. I am glad you have no palpitation. I have not seen the Billy Graham's memorial service.

I've worked quite hard with gardening activities today, but the hourly weather forecast lied and it rained in the morning instead of between 2 and 4 as forecast. So far no palpitations yet today and the next dose is three hours away.

@Ithink Maybe you could curl up with a cup of hot tea and a good book. That's what I'd do. I might pop corn, too.

My garden is covered in 15 1/2 inches of snow lol so nope no gardening for me. I wondered about the age of seeds. I have many that are many years old.

I figured it wouldn't hurt to try. I'd rather throw them outside than in the trash. If nothing else, the birds will eat them.

I bought a packet of zinnia seeds online The first lot did not germinate. They sent me another lot and I hardly see results. Never more will I buy seeds online. The problem is Nurseries around here do not sell seeds of seasonal flowers. I should have preserved seeds from flowers that grew in my garden but I did not do that Nice to hear your heart did not trouble you.

It's still ticking along as normal, even though I've worked pretty hard today. Not through yet, either.

I think i've got it right. Today has also gone well so far after I've been up two hours past taking my morning pill, which was half an hour late.

No, I worked all day. I had planned to work in the garden but the cod has crept back in at night so I will wait another week.

I must have missed something. What is this cod that creeps in at night?

Lucky you living where you can already garden. Here in Riga, Latvia the temps are still very low and ice and snow are all around. Sad about Billy Graham I will see if I can find some of his memorial on YouTube.

There are some good thing about California. One is the mild climate. I'm not sad for Bibbly Graham. He lived a long and productive life and he's with his Lord now and can rest. I do feel for his family who will miss him greatly.

I actually missed the beginning because I didn't know it would be on. If you find it, let me know. I plan to work hard today, too, since there's still a lot of garden chores I couldn't get done before the rain started today. I cn prune and weed Monday, but I'd like to finish with the bone meal and fertilizer today before it rains this afternoon. I like having the rain get it wet. It does a better job than I do.

@bagarad YouTube has it, and depending on which version you watch, it can be anywhere from a couple hours to ten hours.

I don't have a yard for a garden nor did I watch Graham's memorial service. You enjoyed an active day.

I like gardening, but I've had to cut down on it because of health issues.
