Thank you, Russia!
Today, March 3rd, Bulgaria celebrates 140 years from its liberation from the Turkish yoke.
The Bulgarian liberation happened after Russian – Turkish war (1877 – 1878).
Our country is full of events that are marking this historical act today. Google also pointed at this day in its Doodle: “Happy Holiday, Bulgaria!” There are many reflections of the day on Facebook too.
Bulgaria is thankful and grateful to Russia, Russian soldiers and Russian arms that lead to its freedom before 140 years. On this day Bulgarian and Russian flags are next to one another on March 3rd. The Russian patriarch Cyril is in Bulgaria. Bulgarian and Russian blood together were sacrificed during this war and after it the Bulgarian country was restored after 500 years Turkish yoke. The patriarch Cyril appealed the Holy Orthodox faith and the Christian values to be kept in Bulgaria.
Our words today are: “Thank you, Russia!”
Thanks for reading.

Agree with you. But there are permanent efforts now the wheel be come back around and Bulgaria to be a subordinary country to Turkey. Here in the country Bulgaria there are now 2 political parties based on the Turkish origin of their members and their supporters. They have representatives in the Bulgarian Parliament too. They try to put the country under their control. There are very complicated political processes now here. Bulgaria remains the poorest country in the European Union and NATO Alliance.
