My computer update was stuck on 30% for a while

So there I was logged into mylot ready to start a discussion when my Internet Security software screen popped up with a message telling me I must update Chrome. I clicked the button to update it. It told me I had to close all applications before the update can be made. I closed Chrome but nothing happened. So, I pressed the force close button and the update seemed to have happened instantly. Then another message popped up telling me I need to reboot my computer. I hit that button and it took me to the gray update screen. Very quickly it went to 30% but then it was stuck on it for a long time. My screen said: Working on updates 30% complete Don't turn off your computer And there was that buffering circle at the top. And nothing was happening for a while. Something seemed off. Even if an update takes a while to complete the % should be moving. It can't be stuck on the same number for a long time. I wanted to press the power off button but was afraid to do it. I didn't it want to screw anything up. After a while of waiting, with no change in the % amount, I decided to try powering off my computer and turning it back on. I was able to turn it off and turn it back on with no issues. After doing that the gray update screen reappeared and the % amount started moving. It went to 35% and then quickly to 100%. I was able to log in to Windows and things seem to work okay. Wonder what it was updating though and why it got stuck on 30%. Anyone ever had this happen to them?

I'm using Mac and I've never experienced such at all. I've heard others complaining about how slow the update could be in a windows computer.

When it's slow but the update progress % is increasing that's okay. But when the % is stuck on a certain number for a long time and nothing changes then there could be an issue.

We've had to leave our computers going all night sometimes when they're doing updates. Like you, we're always too scared to turn them off.

Luckily, everything seems okay, so my worries are over.

Windows 10 I believe. I used to have 8.1 and kept declining the update to Windows 10. But then one day it just started updating to 10 on its own. I am happy that this update (whatever it was for have no idea) was successful. I was worried this may be the end of my pc and all my files.

I haven't updated my windows even though its told me since the second day I have had it that I need to. I also don't use chrome so I have no reason to update it.
