Good evening! Our beadle did not go to the hospital so I and my 3 colleagues opted to leave. I messaged Sir Sam that we will fill up 2 attendance sheets tomorrow for today and tomorrow's duty. As usual my son drives the car with my sister in tow. My son sometimes buys food for midnight snacks. Tonight he bought egg porridge for himself while my sister saw a basket with duck embryo. She bought 3- one for each of us. I know many users here do not like to see how an opened egg of a duck embryo looks like so I added some comic images. This is called 'balut' and it is an exotic delicacy here. When I was still a staff nurse in 1981-86, I can consume 3 eggs in one sitting. Now I just eat one. Have you tasted this already? If so, how was it?

I know that you eat this, I cannot even think to kill a baby duck inside the egg. This breaks my heart.

@LadyDuck oh, you are making me feel regretful eating 'balut'.

that is why i choose the 'balut' at 17-18 days old only because the feathers are small, and the yolk is bigger.

I have read about this dish. I am not sure if I would be able to eat it. Maybe I would eat a little bit of it in order to experience the taste.

@ridingbet I don't know Amazing Race, I have only heard the name. Do people have to do challenges in this show?

@Porcospino yes, it is like the Amazing Race in USA. certain tasks are done by the competitors and here in Asia, eating the duck embryo is always a task.

the yolk is delicious, even the feather-thingy, because it should be small. if big, i don't eat it.

I have never tasted it. Does it taste different from chicken eggs?

yes it does differ. duck embryos should be 17-18 days old before being boiled.
