SATURDAY at 830pm is earth hour. Where you unplug and relac. Many of us use a lot of hydro, electronics and forget nature. Although here at 830pm its dark out. Some times its warmer and lighter so i go for a hike. But this year / winter has been extra long.

I do things to conserve every day. I think that relegating conservation to one hour on one day gives people the false notion that they've "done something."

Sure, if I could do anything for the earth, I would, even it was only a little thing. Beside, dealing with nature can make me refresh

Nope I won't be participating in this. Every day I try my best to cut back on electricity use so it's not necessary for me to unplug for an hour one day of the year. I learned the other day that when it's hot in my kitchen to turn the fan on blowing downward and it will help circulate the air through the house to keep it warmer so the furnace won't have to run then. I also learned that if you buy cold water detergent for a couple bucks more per bottle that it works great to lift the dirt and things off clothes and saves a lot from not having to use hot water. I use hot water in my washer so being able to use cold and get the clothes just as clean would save me a lot of fuel oil which is what heats my water.

Not necessarily unplug but shut off. Its more to save power and see nature.

No, I don't believe in earth hour. I don't see how me sitting in the dark twiddling my thumbs for an hour is going to do anything worthwhile to help the planet.

Its a statement! Its also how you look at it. The point is that so many people depends on hydro/electronics yet forget nature and what is around them. By many answers on a post on Facebook its very much true. I can go a day without hydro/ electronics etc without stressing many cannot do that now a days. Running many of these items cause long term damage to the environment.
