No, this is not about the movie "The Ugly Truth" which stars Gerard Butler - I just think that the title suits my post perfectly. Mrs X found out that her husband was cheating - in fact - she actually saw the two together, and her first reaction was "how could he cheat on me with an ugly woman ?". Now - would you be angrier or less angry depending on who your husband or wife is cheating with - or the person's attractiveness or unattractiveness? I never gave this aspect of cheating much thought , until I heard it mentioned in the lyrics of a song. My main concern would be his cheating - period. What are your thoughts about this? My picture is a scene from the Shakespeare play "Othello".

Ah, Othello! Once a cheater, always a cheater. I'd throw him out no matter what she looked like.

My boyfriend cheated on me with a pretty girl who was at least twice maybe three times my size. Cheating hurts horribly no matter what. People make terrible choices sometimes.

Did he ever hint in any way that he liked plus sized women?

@shaggin That meant that it is not usual for him to date skinny girls. I agree, cheating does hurt.

This is a really good question. I guess I'd have to be wondering what my husband saw in someone not terribly attractive. It's says a lot about our prejudices, doesn't it?

@Kandae11 Yes if you're involved it's self-esteem but if you're on the outside looking on, I think it says much about our prejudices.

Oh wow, that's a good question. If he were cheating with a nice looking person - I would feel uglier. If he were cheating with a person I deemed more plain I would wonder what else about me drove him away.

Yes, one would feel pretty small if the woman is beautiful - and there would be more questions if she is much plainer than you are.

Men and women cheat on their partners for a variety of reasons which never make it right, but my question is; What does a man/woman see in someone who cheats their wife/girlfriend, husband/boyfriend. They should automatically read him/her as LOSER!! If they are both hitched then two losers belong together. :-)

If he/she cheated on wife/husband - then it is highly likely that he/she will do it again with someone else.

@Kandae11 exactly! Which is why I cant admire a married man who hits on me, nor will I fall into desire for him. :-)

I do have a very analytical mind. Hearing of something that goes wrong, I automatically dissect and analyze the cause. In this case, I would automatically try to figure out why the man in the case goes astray, was it because the other woman was better in any way? I have friends whose husband betrayed them for fatter and uglier women (but those women were wealthier too!). Many beautiful and nice personality women (Shania Twain was one, re: the first husband) lost their husbands to shabby & messy women. Some men are just hopeless.

@Kandae11 Her first husband had an affair with a woman she made friends with (Shania Twain's very close friend at the time). When the husband of the other woman began to be suspicious of his wife's activities, he began to approach Shania Twain, asking her to help him. She was horrified and didn't believe it at first. The funny thing is, that man whose messy and shabby wife betraying him, is quite a good-looking guy. In the end, after all the dust settled, he married Shania Twain. The two seem to be devoted to each other after being betrayed by their first partners.

I think just the fact he would be cheating on me, which never happened, but if it had, would make me angry. What she looked like, would be secondary.

Just that the anger or feeling of insult would - in some cases - be less or more depending on who he is cheating with.
