Recently three Australian cricket players- Steve Smith, David Warner and Bancroft were found guilty of pre-planned ball tampering in a match against South Africa. They were given strict punishments by their own Australian cricket board. Smith and Warner- the team captain and vice-captain got 12 months ban for all forms of cricket, except club level, and Bancroft for nine. Warner has been barred from becoming team captain for lifetime and Smith for two years.
Now Smith has been one of the best test batsman in last two three years in the world, and Warner- too has been a good batsman, especially in Twenty-20.
I wonder has a victory become so important for a person that even with so much talent they resort to such unfair means? I am clueless!

That this happened at all is beyond comprehension to ordinary sports lovers.
Years ago, the passion for the game and representing the country was reward enough for them to hold their heads high. Sanjay Manjrekar has mentioned how his mother, a simple woman, took fulfillment in being the wife of a test cricketer and the mother of another.
Nowadays some are even elevated to superhuman beings and money just flows into their pockets. Both Smith and Warner stand to lose millions from withdrawal from IPL games.
"It is not cricket" is a phrase but even the English resorted to bodyline to contain and even physically harm a rampaging young Bradman.
Ball tampering has been resorted to occasionally but it was stupid to do it when cameras can even spot even minute details on the field from every angle.
Overall, this incident should never have happened. However, the culprits are caught red-handed but in other sports, like Tennis and Athletics, it takes years for simple urine analysis. Lance Armstrong was cycling into retirement in full glory and then the results were released - siva

Even if Australia had lost all the matches in South Africa, it would not have been so bad for Smith and Warner but things turned out much more pathetic.
