Do you enjoy spending time alone?

I am lucky in that I do not need people around me all the time because I enjoy my own company. I have people I can visit if I want to but I enjoy spending time on my online sites, watching tv, reading, anything that gives me a chance for some quiet time.. Some people would rather be with anyone than be on their own. I even know someone who dated a man for the second time even though he treated her badly the first time, because she didn't want to end up alone. Are you the sort of person who likes solitude or do you need people around you?

I think I need people around me, but I like the option of being alone. These days, it's a lot harder to fit in alone time.

I'm lucky I get plenty now I'm retired although it's the school holidays here at the moment so the granddaughter is home. Not quite as quiet as usual!

@spiderdust Yesterday the weather cleared up a bit so she was out playing in the afternoon with her friends. She has to report back to me at regular times so I know she is ok even though it's pretty safe where we live.

I don't go out much now so spend most of my time either with my granddaughter or my partner, but I love it when they aren't around and I can have some me time.

@sprite1950 when I have a day off and my kids are at school and my husband goes to work, I love being at home and do whatever I want. I need some time alone to organize my thoughts.

I like to be surrounded by my family, friends and relatives before when I am still in my hometown but now that I am in the city I just love to stay at home alone and working online. Sometimes I go out with my friends when I am in the mood.

I do not need people around me. I like to meet people and to have company time by time, but I feel very well alone.

Both. When I need to work, the quiet of my office is in need. However, when at the dinner table, I like to have roommates for discussion over food I have prepared.

I like solitude. I like the photo you've chosen but I can't help thinking that looks a very weak branch that the right rope of the swing is attached to.

I don't need people around me.Actually I don't feel comfortable with people except my closed ones.I take much time to mingle with people.I can't be myself when i'm with people. I don't need to act If i'm alone or with my closed ones.

I do enjoy the company of other people but over time I've also grown to enjoy the company of myself. I don't feel like there's anything wrong with it, infact I think it's rather healthy! Getting down to your roots- thinking of instances/ ways to improve your life/ appreciating myself, are common things I tend to think about when I'm alone; I feel like over time thinking about myself and putting myself first will help me grow as an individual :)

I thrive in solitude, but at the same time people can be inspiring and motivating, so I need them in my life. I also feel useful when socializing, but it's something that drains a lot of energy so I eventually retire in solitude to recharge. Yes, some people are truly addicted to company, others have social phobia, balance is the only healthy option. But you aren't really alone, when you watch TV or read a book, you're listening to what someone has to say, that's like socializing though there's no dialogue.

I hadn't thought of it that way. Yes my mind is always occupied while I'm alone (apart from when I sleep) so I am socialising in a different way, one without interruption. If I need people I can always go and visit those who mean the most to me.

I am definitely a loner, who loves my peace and quiet, above all things. Yet, I do like certain people, from a distance. Loud, boisterous individuals, I don't like being around them. Basically, I'm an Introvert and I like being this way!
