There they arrive with their bag and baggage

I hate anyone arriving without announcement. I prefer if we are told well in advance. I like house guests but I must be given enough time so that both the guests and the hosts are at ease.
There they were with their bag and baggage, unannounced. "Surprise, surprise is what I hear from all of them. Yes. all 4 including the 3 year old somewhat of a 'Denis the Menace' Wild thoughts started building up in my mind. How could I have told them that I simply hate such surprises
Did I hear the birds? Yes cuckoos were up and I was grateful it was just a bad dream

Do give me sufficient notice so that I can lay the red carpet for you

I´m glad it was just a dream. I have unannounced guests sometimes, but they only come for a cup of coffee.

Just a casual visit is quite welcome although even that I may not quite like depending on circumstances

I agree with you. Because if someone comes, we should prepare something in advance. I really experienced that someone came to my house without announcement. I was sleeping after lunch. Our door just opened. It was my dad in law.He opened the door because he had the key to our door.In fact , I felt very angry for it. I just didn't understand why he didn't tell me in advance.

@allknowing Yeah, he lives far away from us. I like him coming here. But I only want him to phone us first.

That is good it was only a dream. Unfortunately, my husband has a guy friend who lives in our town. We don't see him that often but on occasion, at weird times, he will just pop in without calling and when he does come unexpectedly, he is a big talker and will stay and talk and talk to my husband for hours! We don't know what to say to him, we don't know how to tell him that he should call first.

The worse part is we cannot even tell them how uncomfortable we are. I remember reading somewhere that when such a situation arises the host will open the door and say she was on her way out (lol)

@allknowing That is a good thing to say that I have not thought of. That is what we will say the next time he pops in. Thanks for sharing.

It was only just a dream. But I still do not like unexpected visitors coming without a warning.
