Mylot, a dating site?

I have nothing against those members who ended up with each other here in mylot. In fact, I remember 7 years ago when two Filipinos ended up having a relationship here and eventually got married (I wonder how they are right now). It's nice when such happens in mylot, totally unplanned and unexpected. There are those, however, that are here to find foreign partners? And I so I wonder if mylot is the best platform for that? It could be, because after all, we get to exchange ideas and ideals here and we get to know members through discussions. We became friends with people we interact with and we get to admire them because of their way of thinking and not too much of their physical appearance as some members here don't even post their actual photos. So is mylot the best place to find the love of your life?

Wow, that's awesome two people ended up having a relationship on here & eventually getting married. Hope all is well with them. I don't know if myLot would be ideal but it could be for someone! Just not me.

Not for me as well. I never thought mylot could be a dating site and I would find it really odd when someone is here for that very particular reason and indeed someone is here for that as he said it exactly in one of my discussions.

@toniganzon I would think it's a long shot if someone is considering myLot as a dating site.

@infatuatedbby I don't think any site is great for finding your one true love. Though others successfully did it, most people don't. I know a member here who fell for another member and he even moved to her country just to be with her. Didn't end up well. He came back to his home country broken hearted and had to start over again with his life.

I think that any site where people can chat to each other has the potential to be a dating site. I know that people do meet their partners online, but I haven't known about any doing that on this site. There was a case on Bubblews where the guy moved to America to be with someone he'd met there. I don't know if they actually married, but it didn't last.

@toniganzon Awesome Yeah so true, just knowing who is genuine. I don't do dating site, too many fake profiles, but here you get to know someone over time through their posts the post, comments they write.

@kevin1877uk Dating sites have too many perverts too and yes the fake profiles as well. Even here in mylot there are some fake people. But at least here, their main intention is to earn money and not to defraud anybody. Now when are we going to have that date?

A dating site? Really? That's kind of funny, but I guess not totally unrealistic. I mean, if two people end up getting to know each other very well here through back and forth conversations, and then find out they have a lot in common, then I guess love could happen.

That has been proven by those who got married but both were in the same place and they met in person. I never thought of mylot as a dating site at all. That simply didn't come into my mind when I joined here several years ago. But there are some people here who think mylot is a dating site. Why? Because someone made a comment in my discussion that he is here to find a foreign girlfriend.

@toniganzon Oh goodness. Someone joined this site for all the wrong reasons then, although it is possible that he may find the foreign girlfriend he is looking for. I doubt it, but it's possible. I mean, I found you, right?

I remember a few cases happening while at Bubblews, cute, don't you think? Then I heard another case in which a male member here leaving his country to follow his love. Didn't work out after a while I heard. Would be nice if that happened to others. (I laughed and laughed when I first read the title of this post. Have to let you know how I really think about this subject re: mylot as a potential dating site .)

I never ever thought mylot as a dating site at all but things happened in the past here that really worked out. This idea only came to mind when a member commented on my discussion that he is here to find a foreign girlfriend. I'm not sure he would end up with one.

@toniganzon Let me guess, the guy liked your profile photo, reading your comments and posts, and figured out that you are a very good risk, wealthy, modern outlook etc. .

@YrNemo No he didn't. He was in my discussion entitled 'Why are you here?' And he's not anywhere else in my discussion. Nothing in my profile would say I'm any of those you say.

I suddenly remember people use to ship me with someone. Mylot is not a place for finding a girlfriend for me because the women here are too conservative for someone like me. I am more of a Tinder person (I already quit Tinder) I find dates now on speed dating bars.

I was in tinder once, but only for a couple of days and I quit. Just not someone who would ever be on a dating site at all. Never thought mylot could be one until this certain member commented on my discussion that he's here to find a foreign girlfriend.

@kepweng Tinder just evolved that way. Everyone is able to find someone who finds them attractive on tinder. Look in everyday life, I have to release sweat blood and tears to convince a woman to date me. On Tinder women makes the first move. I loved tinder for that, women there are aggressive, they make the first move and they are straight to the point that they are not for love. they just want the D. Some of the women I met there are way out of my league. Tinder can be really addictive.... This is a dating bar:
A speed-dating newbie encounters a series of comically incompatible women before making a connection. Stay on this channel to watch more great short films or...

There are people who meet online in different social media platforms, that end up getting married. Lots of those pages are not dating web sites, but people can still meet in those places that end up sharing the same likes & ideas.

I think that's not hard to believe to see people getting married upon meeting on social media sites. But at least they have to know each other first in person before jumping into marriage.

That's cool that two myLotters married from getting to know each other here. I hope they are doing well. I love my friends here, but would never use it as a dating site. So not my style. Besides, I'm happily married to the love of my life. lol

I have never thought of mylot as a dating site when I joined it though it's inevitable that sometimes people might fall for each other here, especially those living in the same area. But to join mylot so I could intentionally find someone romantically is just not my thing at all.

I know people that have succeeded and failed in online dating. I have been married for 27 years and I have a lot of male and female friends online. For people having relationships on here, hey if it works and they connect, then let it work itself out for the better.

Personally I guess anything is possible. I can remember back in the day dating people via Yahoo dating site, but it always seemed to be guys that did not want me because I had my own Business and did not work so they thought I was lazy. Lucky for me, I met my husband another way. But hey I guess anything is possible

It's never entered my head! Some guys from the UK will go to other countries to find a wife if they are not lucky here as there are some women who will marry them for a UK passport. However if two people meet and fall in love here, good luck to them.

Filipino women would marry any foreign men just to get out of poverty here. I just don't belong to those group at all. I know there are couples who got together online but most of the couples who met online usually don't work out well. It's too risky to find love online for me. Just not my thing.

@sprite1950 Yeah I know to some it could work. But not to most. Especially when living far away and meeting only to finally get married. I think it helped that your daughter dated him for 18 months. It helps in getting to know each other and to see if thing swill work out or not. I know another one from the UK who met someone here and moved to the US for her, but they eventually broke up and he returned to UK.

@toniganzon My daughter met her fiance on the online dating site Plentyoffish. They have been together 3 years and are still blissfully happy so it can work out. They did go out for 18 months before moving in together and have bought a house. I met my partner in the real world though.

That's pretty cool, about the 2 people who met off of here and married. :-) I don't like long distance relationships personally (I've done it too many times) but all the luck to those who do pursue it. -- Maybe it works because like you say you get to know each other through writing first

Those two who got married are from this country and are near each other. That's why I think it worked. I don't believe in long distance relationship and most especially if coming from different countries with different cultural background, and not to mention the language barrier. I don't really believe in love conquers all. I'm a romantic person but these days we have to be realistic.
