What Was Your Path to myLot?

As we've been discussing the cheaters on Bubblews in my last discussion, I also was reminded we all took different paths before we found myLot. Most of us found out about myLot from someone else. Once we found it, we often spread the word to others.
My introduction to the online writing scene was Squidoo, which, as most know, died in 2014. I joined it in 2009 and was very active there until it died. I joined HubPages when my Squidoo friends talked about it. Then friends from Squidoo started talking about Gather, so I joined that. It, too, died after a few years. But people on Gather talked a lot about myLot. So, of course, I joined that, too. My profile says I've been here seven years. Sounds about right.
During the time that myLot changed ownership and stopped paying, I kept my account open, but wasn't active. I came back when the original owners took charge and started paying again. Seems that was around the time Bubblews died, and I started inviting my Bubblews friends to come here so we could continue to keep in touch.
Many old-time myLotters were here long before I was. I'm not sure what their path here was. What or who brought you to myLot? What was your path here?

Interesting.I joined in 2013 I think.I was not much active and took a long break. It was while I was in Persona Paper that I came to know about mylot starting to pay again, from members there.(from @JoiletJake and @allknowing). So then I came back here.

I'm sorry Persona Paper isn't as active as it used to be. It's still around, but still not paying, so those of us who need to earn don't hang out there as much as we used to. I still dart in occasionally, but hardly ever write there anymore. I'm glad you're here.

I am an expert in one online tutoring site then I search for other sites that pay and one of list mentioned about Mylot. I was curious and checked on it. Then there I am here.

I honestly can't remember but I expect I heard it from someone on another site. I didn't stay long at first and then I heard it wasn't paying so forgot about it. I made a few brief visits and then left again so it is only recently I have come to enjoy it and become a regular poster.

I also started with Squidoo, later than you did, it was the year 2011 when I joined. Later I joined Bubblews and when I understood that something was wrong I joined Persona Paper. My friends from Bubblews suggested me to join myLot. I did in 2015 and I am very happy here.

I began writing in some India based sites. I heard somebody talk about Bubblews in one of those sites.. I joined and it was there that I saw myLot mentioned. Unfortunately, it had then stopped paying and perhaps it went off the sky. However, I kept checking if it was available again. Right enough, it returned and I didn't waste a day and got myself registered.

I'd like to get the Facebook friends I enjoy talking to here. The discussions are better and we probably know each other better here than we know the Facebook friends we went to school with or met later in life.

I was at a site Rediff Q&A that was not paying but we had a lot of interesting interactions there. I was there for 3 years and there someone talked of myLot and that was over 9 years ago.

I think I've been here for almost 8 years now. I have my own discussion of what brought me here in mylot and it was because I was searching for a blackberry forum.

I started with Associated Content in 2010 which was sold to Yahoo to become Yahoo Contributor Network and Yahoo Voices. Yahoo closed it down and I lost 300 articles and the numerous interactions.
Then I moved to Bukisa but that site did not get going.
Later I joined Wikinut but it stopped paying to result in many leaving the site.
I heard about this site through one who was in Wikinut and I am swimming with the tide! siva

@Shiva49 Read your article, but I can't sign in anymore. I guess my account is closed. I probably closed it myself, since I had only been on the site a short time when it closed and I didn't really like having to wait for post approval.

@bagarad Yes, I want this site to last.
I miss more the many interactions with my acquaintances.
I have kept a record of my posts though.
I give a link to one of my posts and the many interactions that followed - siva
Wikinut has announced it will not be paying for content posted meaning all users will stop earning revenue from the site. This news comes out of the blue as payments made were more of an encouragement than rewarding. Hopefully, matters will turn around soo

When Bubblews cheated me out of a large sum, I left that site injured. Other members encouraged me to join My Lot, but I was hesitant to get involved with an online stranger. I had other member's approval of this site, so I signed up and didn't do anything with it. Two years later, I logged in and submitted a first discussion, to see what would happen. Soon it became a site that I enjoy almost every day.

My sister @Freelanzer introduced me to online writing and Bubblews. When that site closed she introduced me to mylot - and here I am.

Even though I first started here a very long time ago, (I was on and left for several years) I know I first found out about it through Annika's which is a site that lists alot of ways to earn online.

@bagarad I think so. Most of the stuff she has on there is pretty low paying though.

@snowy22315 Most online earning sites I'm aware of don't pay much unless you can earn commissions in some way, like affiliate links.

Barbara, thanks for sharing that with us. I was looking for a way to make extra money and someone I know that is also here told me about it. I started on it and then left and then came back. I do not leave anymore. I have met some very nice people here including yourself and really like it. I have been here about 2 years.

I was a new member at Squidoo with about 20 lenses
. I think I got about 53 cents or more for the half year I was there
. Then I read some chats from some senior Squidoo members who got upset with the management at the time re:, restriction here and there etc, and they mentioned Bubblews. Since I liked those people very much, I decided to try out Bubblews. When Squidoo closed down, they sent my lenses to HubPages (which I couldn't be bothered to worry about to editing as requested). With times, my articles all got deleted I think. Never worried me. (I did those articles perfectly for the public to read.
)
I made good friends at Bubblews. I like some of them very much that when Bubblews didn't honor the payment aggreement, I left but kept returning to visit old friends. When Bubblews closed down and I couldn't read my friends' posts anymore, I had no choice but to join this site to chase after them. Funny right? Almost like a faithful dog here
.
(Weren't there some other sites which closed down now, something like pay par artcle and a place where people upload photos and got some cents from some likes per month? I remember many Bubs members joined those sites at the time.)

I can't kept their time frames straight. There was Teckler, which I joined to earn a few extra cents. I don't remember if I'd earned enough to get paid when it closed. It seems writing sites come and go every few months. It's hard to keep track of them all.

@YrNemo I did, and I still know which ones. I keep them in a file so I know which I uploaded where. Some I had also posted on Bubblews. This is one from the file in the nature folder. It's a puddle reflection on our Templeton land. Very seasonal. It rained again this morning.
