Call. For. Appointment.

Three very simple words.
I spent the day cleaning up one of Boss's rental houses and posted it on several sites on facebook this afternoon.
Described the house, gave plenty of photos, how much monthly for rent, how much for deposit, etc.
And said Call xxx-xxx-xxxxx for appointment to view.
CALL. FOR. APPOINTMENT.
And of course, here come the PM messages.
I'm just deleting them as soon as I get them.
There is a reason it says 'Call for appointment'.
I don't want to sit at the computer tied up PM'ing people about the house.
Seriously, if you can't bother to call the number I gave, then that right there tells me you don't really want the house, or if you move in, you will only stay a month or two.
And tada!!! Someone just called.
So there's my first appointment to show the house tomorrow...hopefully, I can get it rented quickly.

That sounds pretty reasonable, to me. Making appointments will keep things orderly and organized, so everything can flow smoothly. Also, anyone who's looking to stay a month or two, can be weeded out.

I had someone get upset with me because they wanted to use a 'housing voucher' where DHS (public aid) pays for the rent, and while it is 'guaranteed' the Boss doesn't want to have to go through all the paperwork involved so I told them no, it has to be cash...they tried saying I was 'discriminating' and I said "No, you have a list of what agents in this town accept vouchers...call one of them" and they hung up.

@JolietJake Since when do people pay rent, without money? I can see why a landlord wouldn't want to get involved, with DHS. Not to mention, many of those individuals do damage to a home and end up leaving it like a pig pen, when they decide to move out! Your boss is very wise, not to allow this.

It wasn't horrible, did a bit of cleaning at a house to get it ready to rent, and the person that moved out previously actually didn't leave the place a wreck. A few times it has ended up a multiple-day chore.

I do believe it may belong in this discussion?

Can I still be rewarded for my honesty?

It's a simple enough instruction.

@JolietJake I think some people figure they will be able to boast about getting a result by bypassing the instructions, as if this somehow makes them smart. Well, not these ones...

@asfarasiknow It's like interviewing for a job..."Can I just PM you on facebook?"

This does not Surprise me as most of the time people really do not seem to read. But many times when they PM you then it becomes more annoying, but Glad you have someone looking at the place.

These seem like the kind of people that will pull the "Well I don't have the rent today, but I'll have it next week if you'll hold it for me"

I can feel you. If I were you, I will also do that. Making a phone is much easier than sending a message.

I have someone on facebook now asking if I have more photos...even though I posted photos of every room in the house with the post. I think some people just try to waste your time on purpose.

I guess if they really wanted the rental they would call and they should get the message when you don't respond to their message.

Unfortunately, people can neither read nor follow instructions. I find this to be irritating and frustrating. Sorry you had to deal with people like that. But you are right, they are the types that would be more hassle than they are worth.

@JolietJake Right!! I have quite a few rentals on my street and a couple of the houses have seen quite a few people in the past year.

Someone asked (in a comment on one of the posts) if it was going to be 'finished' or as-is. I assume they meant 'furnished' which it plainly says it is unfurnished...
