I Might Have Found Jill's Job

I cant believe this. I might have found what Jill is meant to do. She might be an animal therapy dog. As in giving emotional support to injured animals. The first time I let her see him I held on to her because of how hyper she is. But as soon as we got close to Billy she calmed right down. Then I crated him while I gave Duke time to eat and get attention. Duke was an adult when I got him and has told me he thinks the goats look good enough to eat already. Duke was not raised with anything except cats. So when I let Billy back out Jill got a little excited. She tried to bark and play bow at him. I told her that was scaring Billy. After a couple of more reminders she started walking slow to him. Then turning and walking away. As you can see Billy is now calm with her and even touching noses. The only thing is I am now scared of what the 2 of them might get into once Billy figures out how to walk on that cast real good. There could be posts anywhere from me laughing so hard I cried, to posts where I am threatening to hang both of them up by the hind legs. This looks to be an interesting 4 to 6 weeks waiting to get that cast off so Billy can go back to the barn.

This sounds promising. Jill is a born Mama, even to an ailing goat.

It is looking like it. I might just finish off her basic training and see how she does visiting nursing homes and maybe kids wards in the hospitals. It could calm her down and make someone else happy too.

@wolfgirl569 Dobies love having a job. Little Sally is like that cause she is a Blue Heeler. She did well when I took her to a nursing home but she knows the basics- when a man took over much of the hallway as he pushed a patient in a wheelchair, I told Sally to sit by my side in the heel position. She did and we waited patiently for the parade to get through. It makes everything glide better, when the dog is calm and wiling and able to sit or stand beside the human, not jigging around in the way.

@sallypup I was very surprised at how fast she made up with him. She seems to be a natural for it at least with animals. I was thinking of training for agility or bite work but this could be what she is meant to do. I know Bunny her mom can find something wrong with me before I know it is, so it is in the bloodlines.

With a bit of luck, they might all turn out to be best friends.
