My Neighbor fell down the steps today

United States
April 23, 2018 5:55pm CST
I was outside walking my dog, came back and saw the neighbor on the ground, Asked was she alright, I thought she was trimming the bush, she does that sometimes on the ground. She says she fell, I had to go get two people to help me lift her, I just couldn't do it, My right hand has issues, so we got her up and she went in. I am thinking of telling her daughter who doesn't live with her, because this is not the first time she fell. Then we were outside searching for her glasses, they flew off her face. Last time she fell of the stairs, she fell hit a brick and busted her lip. She is 74 years old.

Oh, my! Time to tell her daughter. Falling is no good at her age, especially if it has happened before.

@DianneN I told the daughter, she came by and her mom was at the store, she walks to the store, all different times. The daughter was upset, she told her not to be walking around, not safe, she come by every other day, to take her out, but the mom doesn't listen.

@CookieMonster46 Don't feel badly. You will be doing her mother a wonderful thing and perhaps save her from more stress.

They should get life Alert for her so when she falls they are notified. What if she fell and she was laying there for hours before someone saw her. Glad you were out and got help to get her back inside.

@CookieMonster46 And that's all you can do. But If i was her daughter I would be worried, especially in the winter time.

Her daughter seems to think she is going to be fine, so I guess I can't worry too much, but will keep an eye on her when outside.

Yes, her daughter needs to know. It is good that there are caring, helpful people like you who will assist her when she falls, but she could be having "mini strokes"

I haven't really seen any family come around here much. I did get to tell the daughter, she seemed concerned. I do look out for her when she goes out walking. Still someone should be looking in , checking on her.

Balance is often an issue with the elderly and her daughter does need to know that she is falling.

It's better to inform her daughter, 74 years is not young, but not even too old, there is something wrong if she fells.

@CookieMonster46 It's better, at this age she could easily break a bone.

@CookieMonster46 That is horrible I fell down the stairs once inside our building because they were wet and the other time someone squirted cucumber juice on the stairs and left some in the corner below. It is very painful. I am glad the person is better.

Awww I think she needs someone who will look after her. Her relatives need to know that she is at risk of having a fall. Maybe they can assign someone or hire someone if they can't be there for her.

they won't hire someone, and she had the grand daughter living there, but she moved out to get married. That has been some time ago, but she does need help.
