Play it Again, Sam #41a - "A Hazy Shade of Winter"

Today's forecast here in Colorado Springs calls for 45° with rain and snow, so today's Play it Again, Sam seems appropriate. We are at #41a, the "original" song: "A Hazy Shade of Winter" by Simon and Garfunkel.
In 1966, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel recorded "A Hazy Shade of Winter" as a stand alone single. The song was actually made during the recording sessions for their album, Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme, but was not included on that record. The poor little orphan tune had to wait until 1968, when it was added to the album, Bookends, to find a proper home.
A song about time that Simon had spent in England, the single performed well, reaching #13 on the Billboard Hot 100, #30 in the UK, and #14 in New Zealand.
"A Hazy Shade of Winter" rocks a little harder than, say, "Bridge over Troubled Water," being more along the lines of "Mrs. Robinson." Considering that I was two when it was released, I can honestly say that, while I have heard Simon and Garfunkel on the radio more times than I can count, this, sadly, is one I don't remember ever hearing on the airwaves. We certainly didn't play it on the station I worked at in the 80's, and we played a lot of songs by the duo.
One band, in particular, however, was paying attention.
Stay tuned.

I wish. If Billy Joel could score Christie Brinkley, surely I could score The Bangles!

@teamfreak16 Bangles or Go Go's? For me it boils down to either Susanna Hoffs or Jane Weidlin.

@JohnRoberts - I was in the front row last time I saw The Go Go's. Jane was still hot as ever.

Really? I think it's one of their best songs. You might like the cover by The Bangles better.
