Are you afraid of being left alone at home? Do you have a wild and weird imagination? Are you scared of ghosts? My sister is waiting for her BFF (best friend forever), her high school classmate, because they will go to the wake of a distinguished lady fiscal here in our city. The lady fiscal and her husband have 3 children: one is a priest who is a lawyer and who was recently appointed by our president of the Philippines a government position; another is a lawyer, and the youngest is the only girl who lives abroad. They will be out until maybe 7PM. My son will also leave at 6PM to meet with 2 of his BFFs, both females. My son is always mistaken as the boyfriend of one of his friends who is a very beautiful lady. Both his girl friends have the same name initialed as A, and both have their respective boyfriends. My son just enjoys the company of his 3 girl friends. The other one, Miss R, cannot join their meet-up this evening. So, I will be all alone later. Oh! Not all alone. Hahaha! I have 11 dogs to keep me company, plus the TV and this site of course. So, are you afraid of being alone?

When I was younger ,say , around in my teens. Our ancestral house is pretty spooky. I guess it's because of how the furniture are arranged and the location of our house, too. We also do not turn on all the lights. I left our ancestral house when I got married. Good thing I do not live there anymore. My parents' house is a corner lot adjacent to a huge old Mango tree. It is really huge and it is really dark where it is located. When I was a child there were stories that some people see white lady there during rainy days in the evening. In front of that house is a dark vacant lot. Although it is a main road. The furniture inside my parents' house are mostly made of wood.In the living room, there are five chairs made of wood.My mom only turns the light on whenever there are visitors otherwise the light is off. There is a mirror attached to the wall that looks like the mirror in Snow White and the seven drawfs facing the main door. In that mirror you can see the reflection of the huge Mango tree. My sister-in-law is scared in that area of our house. Some friends also find that area eerie.

@oahuwriter Hi!!! It's nice to find someone here who believes in Saints. I feel awkward to discuss them here. In my parents' house, there is a small grotto in the garage where St.Lourdes is well-maintained. They do not have St. Anthony but instead they have a large crucifix "The Lord of Pardon" and Saint Peregrine which I bought . I call Saint Anthony whenever I misplace something. :) And the items always gets back to me. I have a St.Benedict necklace but I seldom use them. I wear a rosary ring instead. In my previous house I always keep bottles of Holy Water.

@n.J have you got a Saint Anthony medal to protect you and the house? You'll get protection and peace of mind too, I know I do, because I have this Saint always with me. Take care and God bless & be with you.

that is good. one thing being alone is to be always safe. in fact, it is more scary to have robbers entering one's house than ghosts wandering around.

@ridingbet Very true. The thought about robbers will be there in the corner of the mind.I recently saw a movie'' Home Invasion''. But it was not about being alone.

I'm alone 90% of the time. So I don't mind it. As to your second question - yes, I have a wild and weird imagination, well a vivid and good one anyway. I wouldn't be an author without it. Do I believe in ghosts - Only the Holy Ghost.

yes, i too believe in the Holy Spirit( it was the Holy Ghost when we were in our elementary grades until it was changed to the Holy Spirit). i too have a weird imagination but i am not scared, even if an unseen entity wants its presence known. my sister and my son dread if i am alone because they think that if i become ill (unexpectedly since i have a heart ailment), they are not here to help me. that is why i tell them to be confident that they will arrive with me strong and well.

With the many dogs for company you needn't worry. I don't mind at all being alone at home. I do lock my bedroom door to be extra careful when alone.

indeed, the barking of the dogs is enough to drive away any bad elements of the society. but when a dog howls, that is another story. hahaha. he might be seeing ghosts

i know you to be a strong woman, and needing some company is just fine. nowadays, we have to be careful at home and outside. and being strong is also conveyed with showing that we need someone when we are in a distressful situation. i believe it is not cowardice. it is bravery and courage to call somebody when we are in need.

it is but natural for a person to be afraid when alone, most especially if their house is in the middle of neighbors who are unruly; otherwise, one can stay inside the house with all doors locked to ensure safety and security. can you sleep if you have your bedroom lights on?

It's a good thing I'm not afraid to be alone. I spent many weeks apart from my husband earlier this year. I have driven over 1000 miles (twice) all by myself in the last six weeks. Now I'm alone for almost another three weeks. No, definitely not afraid to be alone.
