Today is the first day of May. 
It's also International Workers' Day, also known as Labor Day.
According to Wikipedia, this holiday is celebrated in Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania, and the Americas.
USA and Canada do not participate. They celebrate theirs in September instead.
I wonder why they don't celebrate it May 1st like everyone else...

It is pretty weird that North American doesn't celebrate it at the same time, and I read the reason why. But hey, for us that know of the day can appreciate it twice!

True. Perhaps the US wants to stand out from the rest of the world. And Canada perhaps as well.

Because we are the US marching to our own tune. Plus May Day is heavily associated with the former communist Russia.

@JohnRoberts Kinda like we use the Dewey Decimal System rather than the Metric System and Fahrenheit rather than Celcius.

@MALUSE That still doesn't mean May Day is not associated with communist USSR. That is the connotation I grew up with.
